Description
May 15, 1956 R. R. SCOTT I 2,745,676
CARRIERS FOR TRASH BURNERS Filed July 8, 1953 INVENTOR. ROSS R. SCOTT ATTORNEY.
United States Patent CARRIERS FOR TRASH-BURNERS Ross R. Scott, Oreland, Pa. Application July s, 1953, Serial No. 366,668
3 Claims. ci. 280547.26
This invention relates to carriers for trash burners that is to say to a device in which a trash burner of the ordinary type may be placed, and when so placed the trash burner may be readily moved from the place where it is normally located to be filled to another and more suitable place for burning the contents.
More specifically considered, the present invention relates to the construction and arrangement of parts constituting a carrier of the character aforesaid.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a carrier for trash burners which will be durable and efiicient and which may be inexpensively constructed.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character aforesaid, which will facilitate the handling of trash burners, and which will eliminate soiling of the users hands and clothing.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character aforesaid which may be shipped in knock-down form and easily assembled by persons of relatively little skill.
The nature and characteristic features of the present invention will be more readily understood from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a carrier for trash burners embodying the main features of the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a similar view of one of the members used in the device for supporting a pair of wheels employed as a portion of the device;
Fig. 3 is a similar view of a foot member constituting a portion of the device; and
Fig. 4 is a similar view of a handle member constituting a portion of the device.
It should, of course, be understood that the description and drawing herein are illustrative merely, and that various modifications and changes may be made in the device as shown without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing, in the particular embodiment of the device therein shown, the same comprises principally an open frame work mounted upon wheels to facilitate movement from place to place, and adapted to receive a trash burner of the usual type and cylindrical shape.
As shown, the device comprises essentially two U- shaped members, each having a flattened base portion 10, and arranged in the assembled structure in planes at right angles to each other.
The lower base portions of the U frames are connected to each other at the center, and at their ends by a ring or hoop like member 11, and likewise the upper ends of the upright portions 12 of the U members are connected by a ring or hoop like member 13.
One of the flat base portions 10 of one of the U members has secured thereto a horizontal part 14 of a bracket which extends rearwardly and downwardly as at 15 to a portion 16 formed in cylindrical shape and adapted 2,745,676 Paterrted May 15,1956
mounted at each end.
.The bracket member also hasan upright portion 19,
the upper end of which is twisted as at 20, which twisted vportion is secured to the ring member 11.
Another of the flat base portions 10 of one of the U members is provided at the front end thereof with a foot member having a vertical portion 21 the upper end of which is secured to the lower end of one of the U members a l a a f Po a e t re a h .srp nd- The act be also a an up- ;warldly inclined portion 23 provided with a lip 24 secured to the base part 10 of the U member.
The upright portion 12 of one of the U members is provided with a handle device of a generally triangular formation with a vertical part 25 secured to the upright portion 12 of the U member, and a horizontal part 26 extending rearwardly from the upper end of the vertical portion 25. The handle member also has an inclined brace portion 27, the lower end of which is provided with a lip 28 secured to the vertical part 12 of the U member.
The handle member may also serve as a foot member at times when it is desired to turn the device over to a horizontal position for various reasons during the use thereof as, for example, to facilitate the removal of the trash burner from the carrier.
The several parts of the device may be secured to each other by any desired fastening means such as spot welding or rivets, but preferably bolts are used for this purpose so that the device may be shipped in knockdown form and the parts assembled by the user.
By the foregoing arrangement there is provided a sim ple and eflicient form of carrier for trash burners by means of which a filled trash burner may be readily moved from its usual location, where the same is ordinarily placed for the reception of material to be burned, to another and safer location to effect the burning of the contents of the burner.
I claim:
1. A carrier for trash burners comprising a single pair of U-shaped members disposed in planes at right angles to each other, each of said members having a flat base portion and vertical uprights, said flat base portions being secured to each other at the center, a ring member secured to and connecting said uprights at their lower ends, another ring member secured to and connecting said uprights at their upper ends, said ring members serving to maintain said U-shaped members in their respective planes, a pair of bracket members each having a portion secured to the flat base portion of one of the U- shaped members and another portion secured to the ring member at the lower ends thereof, an axle carried by said bracket members, and wheels carried by said axle.
2. A carrier for trash burners comprising a single pair of U-shaped members disposed in planes at right angles to each other, each of said members having a flat base portion and vertical uprights, said flat base portions being secured to each other at the center, a ring member secured to and connecting said uprights at their lower ends, another ring member secured to and connecting said uprights at their upper ends, said ring members serving to maintain said U-shaped members in their respective planes, a pair of bracket members each having a portion secured to the fiat base portion of one of the U-shaped members and another portion secured to the ring member at the lower ends thereof, an axle carried by said bracket members, and wheels carried by said axle, and a foot member at the front having an upright portion secured at the lower end of the other of the U-shaped members and another portion secured to the flat base portion of said U- shaped member.
' rights at their upper ends, said ring members serving to maintain said U-shaped members in their respective planes, a pair of bracket members each having a portion v secured to the flat base portion of one of the U-shaped members and another portion secured to the ring member 7 at the lower ends thereof, an axle carried by said bracket members, Wheels carried by said axle, a foot member at the front having an upright portion secured at the lower end of the upright portion of the other of the U- shaped members and another portion secured to the flat base portion of said U-shapedmaember, and a handle member at the rear having a portion secured to the upper end of the other upright portion of said U-shaped member.
