BARREL-TRUCK SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 274,258, dated March 20, 1883. l Application filed January 3, 1883. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

ABe it known that I, LUoiUs MELvnv BEDELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Chetopa, in the county of Labette and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Imqprovementin Barrel-Trucks, of whichV the following is a specication, to wit:

This invention relates to improvements in barrel-trucks; and it consists in a square or angular frame set upon small wheels and proy vided with an adjustable retaining-arm having a suitable handle, substantially as hereinafter more fully described. 1

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention belongs to avail themselves of its benefits, l will now proceed to describe it, referring to the accom panyiug drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my truck with a barrel shown upon it in dotted lines, and Fig. 2 a. vertical cross-section of the same.

A represents a square or angular frame, ot' wood, having its ends mortised, as shown,

and provided on 'two or more corners with triangular blocks a ci. This frame is provided also with four or more small wheels, a,which are secured in slots in the frame and project somewhat beneath it, as seen in the drawings. On its forward side the frame A is provided 3o with an L-shaped arm, B, having its short or horizontal arm furnished with a series of holes,

b, by which it may be adjustably secured to the fratrie. The perpendicular portion of this arm B is supplied with a handle, lb', which may be made removable, it' so desired.

In use a barrel or box is placed upon the truck or frame A, with its edges resting against the corner-pieces a to prevent its slipping or being upset. The arm B is secured to the box; or in case of a barrel may be passed under its upper hoops and holds it firmly in place, while it may be readily moved around or drawn. out or pushed beneath a counter by means of the handle b. The arm B,being adjustable upon vthe frame, is easily thrown out or in to suit boxes or barrels of different sizes.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is`

In a barrel-truck, the combination of' a square or angular frame provided with slots in which are small wheels or rollers, and two or more corner-pieces, with an 'shaped arm, adj ustably secured to the frame and provided with a handle, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
