Claims. (Cl. 72-16) This invention relates to frame building construction and more particularly to a building construction employing a plurality of separately prefabricated frame members having building blocks tied thereto.
An object of the present invention is to provide a framing adapted for construction of multiple story buildings as well as single story buildings.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a novel locking means for tying building blocks to the frame members to insure a rigid structure.
Still further objects of the invention reside in the provision of a building construction that is strong, durable, easy to construct, relatively inexpensive, and which employs a minimum number of prefabricated elements.
These, together with various ancillary objects of the invention which will become apparent as the following description proceeds, are attained by this building construction preferred embodiments of which have been illustrated in the accompanying drawings, by way of example, only, wherein:
Figure 1 is a detail view showing the manner in which building blocks are tied to frame members in accordance with the concepts of the present invention; and
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional detail view as taken along the plane of line 22 in Figure 1.
With continuing reference to the accompanying drawings wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the various views, reference numeral 10 generally designates a building construction formed in accordance with the present invention which is constructed on a foundation 12 of any conventional construction as best seen in Figure l. Positioned on the foundation and anchored thereto by the conventional anchor bolts 14 are runner members 16 on which side frame members or studs 20 are secured.
In order to properly secure the plaster board or other interior facing to the side studs 20 stud members 58 have been provided on either side of the side frame members 20. The studs 20 and stud members 58 are equal in width and the members 58 are ofiset behind the interior facing of studs 20 thereby forming seats at the inner edge of members 58 and a pocket between the members 58 at the outer edges thereof. Then to either of these studs 58 the plaster board as indicated at 60 may be secured forming a flush joint with the side studs 20.
It will be seen that herein is shown a manner of tying building blocks as is indicated at 72 to the side studs 20. This forms a very suitable veneered wall and the building blocks 72 positioned on starting or base block 73 are each provided with grooves 74 in their adjacent edges to form a recess in which the side studs 20 and the stud members 58 may be positioned. Cast in the blocks 72 are L-shaped eye members 76 which are held by the hook member 78, the hook member holding the eye member 76 of adjacent blocks together. Then the hook member 78 having a central eye member 77 is secured to side studs 20 by a vertical tie rod 79 extending through eyes 77 and the rod 79 is secured by means of a staple or other driven 2,720,778 Patented Oct. 18, 1955 member 80 to the side studs 20 thereby connecting the blocks 72 to the side studs 20. A suitable cementitious mix 82 is then poured in the pocket between stud members' 58 to lockingly hold these elements together.
The joists '18 are provided with boards 91 on the underside thereof for providing means for attaching floor insulation. The ends of the joists 18 extend into engagement with opposite side surfaces of the stud members 58 whereby the stud members 58 are secured between the joists 18 by bolts 64. Cylindrical connectors 62 are disposed in grooves in surrounding relation to the bolt 64 to prevent any pivotal movement between joists 18 and stud members 58.
Since from the foregoing the construction and advantages of this building construction are readily apparent, further description is believed to be unnecessary.
However, since numerous modification will readily occur to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the foregoing specification and accompanying drawings, it is not intended to limit the invention to the precise embodiments shown and described but all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to falling within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new l. A wall structure including a vertical frame member having a vertical stud portion provided with inner and outer vertical edges and fiat side faces, a pair of identical vertical studs secured to opposite side faces of said stud portion and having inner and outer vertical edges, the outer vertical edge of said stud portion being spaced inwardly from the outer vertical edges of said studs to define a vertical channel, a pair of blocks having adjacent ends provided with communicating recesses receiving the outer vertical edges of said studs, Wire fasteners connecting the adjacent ends of said blocks together, means connecting said fasteners to said stud portion, and means binding said fasteners with said connecting means.
2. A wall structure including a vertical frame member having a vertical stud portion provided with inner and outer vertical edges and flat side faces, a pair of identical vertical studs secured to opposite side faces of said stud portion and having inner and outer vertical edges, the outer vertical edge of said stud portion being spaced inwardly from the outer vertical edges of said studs to define a vertical channel, a pair of blocks having adjacent ends provided with communicating recesses receiving the outer vertical edges of said studs, eye members secured to said adjacent ends of said blocks and disposed in said recesses, wire fasteners having terminal hooks engaging and connecting the eye members of adjacent blocks, and driven members in said channel and extending through said fasteners and attached to the stud portion for connecting the adjacent ends of the blocks to the frame member.

A wall structure comprising a sill, pairs of studs extending upwardly from the sill and having inner and outer vertical edges, wall boards secured to the inner vertical edges of the studs, intermediate studs secured between each pair of studs and having outer vertical edges spaced inwardly from the outer vertical edges of pairs of studs and inner vertical edges spaced outwardly from the inner vertical edges of said pairs of studs and engaged between adjacent wall boards, a plurality of building blocks arranged in courses extending between the adjacent pairs of studs, and means anchoring the blocks to all of said studs and to each other.

A wall structure comprising a sill, pairs of studs extending upwardly from the sill and having inner and outer vertical edges, wall boards secured to the inner vertical edges of the studs, intermediate studs secured between each pair of studs and having outer vertical edges spaced inwardly frond the otter vertical edges of pairs of studs, a.
plurality of building blocks arranged in courses extend ing between the adjacent pairs of studs, certain of said blocks having recesses therein receiving the outeredges of said pairs tofstiids, andnieans'within said recesses recesses and about the eye members and rods.
