2 Claims. (Cl. 222-93) This invention relates to improvements in dispensers for paste-like materials and more particularly to a novel combination holder and dispenser for tooth-paste, shaving cream, and other similar materials.

The present invention provides a novel holder which is adapted to support a number of tubes containing toothpaste, shaving cream, soap, and cosmetics. The holder is provided with means for sealing the ends of a number of collapsible tubes containing paste-like materials, such tubes being made from a plastic material such as cellophane. The holder is provided at its upper ends with means for supportingthe tubes in suspended positions, while the lower end of such holder is provided with novel means for releasably holding the tubes in sealed positions whereby their contents are prevented from escaping. The end portions of the tubes may be selectively detached from the lower end of the holder to permit the contents of such tubes to be dispensed therefrom.

An object of my invention is to provide a novel combination holder and dispenser for paste-like materials, the holder being adapted to support a number of collapsible tubes containing such commonly used materials as tooth paste, shaving cream, and the like.

Other and further objects of my invention will be pointed out hereinafter or will be indicated in the appended claims, or will be obvious to one skilled in the art upon an understanding of the present disclosure. For the purpose of this application I have elected to show herein certain forms and details of a combination holder and dispenser for paste-like materials representative of my invention; it is to be understood, however, that the embodiment of my invention herein shown and described is for the purpose of illustration only and that therefore it is not to be regarded as exhaustive of the variations the invention.

Fig. 1 is a front view of a combination holder and dispenser for paste-like materials embodying one form of my invention;

Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same;

Fig. 3 is a front view of another embodiment of my invention wherein a holder for a collapsible tube and a tooth brush is shown in combination with these elements;

Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the embodiment shown in Fig. 3; and

Fig. 5 shows another form of holder for a plurality of collapsible tubes.

Referring first to Figs. 1 and 2, the numeral 1 represents the elongated shank of a tube-holder, having outwardly extending wings or lateral extensions 2 at its upper end and a hole 3 for hanging the holder on a hook or the like. The lateral extensions are provided with for wardly projecting hooked members 4 which hold the central portions of a number of collapsible tubes or casings 5, the said tubes or casings being made from a suitable inexpensive plastic material such as cellophane. The tubes or casings 5 contain paste-like materials and their lower open ends are releasably secured in open slots 6 Patented June 21, 1955 providedin a lower end member 7 which is formed integrally with the shank 1. The slots 6 are substantially parallel with one another and they are sutiiciently restricted inwidth to pinch the sides of a tube against each other soas toseal the lower ends thereof and thereby prevent the escape of the paste-like contents. The slots 6 are open at their lower ends, thereby permitting the end portions of the tubes 5 to be manually released by pulling the said end portions which extend rearwardly of the end member 7, downwardly and forwardly. The tubes or casings 5 may be provided with suitable yieldable restricted means at their lower ends if desired, although by proper handling the contents may be prevented from escaping. After a lower end portion of either of the tubes or casings 5 is manually released from the lower end member 7 the contents thereof may be suitably dispensed by pressing the sides of the tube or casing toward each other in the usual manner.

In the embodiment of my invention shown in Figs. 3 and 4 I have provided a holder on which both a collapsible tube and a tooth brush are conveniently carried. In this particular embodiment of my invention the holder includes a shank 8 having an upper member 9 which is provided with a hole 9' and a forwardly extending hooked member 10, the latter being adapted to hold the central portion of a collapsible tube or casing 11 made from a suitable plastic such as cellophane. Secured to the lower end of the shank 8 is a socket or enclosure 12 for the bristles of a tooth brush 13, the handle of which is releasably held by opposed members of a spring clip 14 extending forwardly from the lower end portion of the shank 8. The spring clip members 14 in combination with the handle of the tooth brush 13 pinch the sides of the lower end portions of the tube or casing 11 together, thereby preventing the contents from escaping. The tooth brush may be released by pulling it forwardly to disengage its handle from the spring clip, and similarly either of the end portions of the collapsible tube or casing 11 may be independently released by pulling such end portion forwardly. When the handle of the tooth brush is pulled forwardly both end portions of the tube or casing 11 are simultaneously released and in such an event and by suitable handling, the contents from either of said end portions may be dispensed. The end portions of the tube or casing 11 may be provided with suitable yieldable restricted means at their lower ends for controlling the discharge of the contents of such tube or casing, although by proper handling the contents may be under control without such means.

In the embodiment of my invention shown in Fig. 5 a holder is formed with an elongated shank 15 the upper end of which is secured to an enlargement 16 having a hole 17 and a forwardly projecting hooked member 18 which holds the central portions of a number of collapsible tubes or casings, 19, the latter being made from suitable inexpensive plastic material such as cellophane. The tubes or casings 19 contain paste-like materials and their lower open ends are releasably secured in open slots 20 provided in a lower end member 21 which is formed integrally with the shank 15. The open slots are substantially parallel with one another and they are sufliciently restricted in width to pinch the sides of their associated tubes 19 against each other to close the lower ends thereof.

What I claim is:

1. In a combination holder and dispenser for materials, an elongated shank having a hooked member projecting from its upper end portion, a slotted lower end member secured to the lower end of the shank and having a plurality of open slots, and a collapsible tube secured at its mid-section to the hooked member and having substantially duplicate depending material holding portions, each of the said portions having its lower end removably extending into a separate slot, the said slots being of such restricted width as to pinch the sides of the depending portions lodged therein together.

2. In a combination package comprising a tooth brush, a holder, and a dispenser for materials, an elongated shank having a hook member at its upper end and a tooth brush socket at its lower end, a pair of opposed spring clip members secured to the shank and arranged adjacent the socket, a tooth brush having its bristles positioned in the socket and its handle releasably secured between the clips, and a collapsible tube secured at its mid-section to the hook member, and having depending portions releasably secured between the spring clip members and the tooth brush handle.
