JAMES FISHWIOK, OF MAINVILLE, OHIO.
lHAND CRIMPlNG-TOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 271,052, dated January 23, 183
Application tiled June 10, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES FIsHWIoK, of Mainville, in the county ot Warren and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Hand Crimping-Tool; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specication, in which- Figure l is a View in perspective of the crimping-tool opened. Fig. 2 is a plan View, showing in dotted lines the oblique adjustment of the corrugated plates, and Fig. 3 is a section through the line x x.
My invention relates to an improved construction of hand crimping-tool to besupported and operated by one hand for crimping the hair, or for crimping rufles and fancy articles of wearing-apparel.
it consists in a handle made of a pair of levers pivoted together, like a pair of scissors, and bearing at their ends opposite the handles corrugated crimping-faces, of brass or other non-corrosive metal.
It also consists in the means for connecting said levers to the crimping-faces by pivoting them to a at plate and riveting said plate to the crimping-faces, whereby the crinpii1gface is stiftenethaud the angle of the handles tothe crimping-faces may be varied to suit the convenience ot' the user.
In thedrawings,AA representthe two levers of my crimping-tool, pivoted together at a, having handles b b, for use after the manner of a pair of scissors or shears.
To the outer ends of the levers are attache the two crimpin g-faces B B, made ofcorrugated sheet-brass or other non-corrosivemetal, the ridges of one face being arranged to iit into the grooves ofthe other.
lines, so as to allow the handles to be put in different positions with respect to the crimping-faces, as convenience may` require. The plates C permit this adjustable connection, and also serve to stiii'en the crimping-faces transversely to their corrugations.
For using the crimping-tool the corrugated faces are heated in any desired manner, and
then brought together on the article to be crimped.
I am aware oi the fact that a hand crimpingtool has been constructed with the crimpingfaces between the pivot and the handles, and I therefore only claim the relative arrangement of these parts shown and described.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is l. A crimping-tool consisting ot a pair ot' levers pivoted together in the middle, and having upon one side ot' said pivot a pair ot' handles and upon the other side a pair of corrugated crimpingfaces, adapted to be operated like a pair ot' scissors, as described..
2. A crimping-tool consisting ofthe pivoted levers A A,the plates 0 G, pivoted to the ends of said levers, and the corrugated crimpingfaces B B, riveted to the plates C, substantially as shown vand described.
JAMES FISHWICK.
