SCISSORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,480, dated April 2, 1889.
Application filed June 4, 1888. serial No. 275,934. (No inodel.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL PETERS, a subject of the German Emperor, residing atMerscheid, Germ any, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scissors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to scissors, to one blade of which a knife-blade or similar tool is pivoted, so that the handles for the scissors constitute the handle for the knife.
The invention consists in the various features of improvement more fully pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a side view of my improved scissors. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the plate 6 partly broken away. Fig. 3 is a side view of a modification.
The letters a or represent the two blades of a pair of scissors, terminating in a pair of handles, b b, as usual. To the forward end and upon the outer face of the blade 0, there is pivoted a knife-b1ade, c, or similar tool, the end of which is engaged byaspring, cl. This spring d and the end of the knife-blade care concealed by a face-plate, 6, covering the outer face of blade a; The plate 6 may be riveted to blade a, or made in one piece therewith.

What I claim is The combination of apair of scissors with a blade, 0, pivoted to scissor-blade a, and with the face-plate c and spring d, the spring being confined between the parts a e, substantially as specified.
