SOAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 269,823, dated January 2, 1883.
Application filed June 29, 1882.
sylvania, have invented a new and useful Im provement in Soap, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification.
In carrying out my invention I take pearl or white cornmeal, fifteen pounds; muriatic acid, one quart; water,one and one-half gallon; essential oil or scent, one ounce; but the proportions may be varied. The acid I prefer is known as pale muriatic acid. These substances are placed in a suitable tank or kettle and worked together, forming a paste or plastic mass of about twenty-three pounds, which is afterward packed in glass tumblers or other receptacles, ready for the market and use.

The soap is designed for removing grease, oils, dyes, paints, inks, and stains generally from the hands or body, and a small quantity thereof is applied to the desired locality and rubbed or worked thereon the same as any other soap, the object to he removed quickly disappearing, and the hands being left clean and uninjured.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The composition of matter forming a soap, consisting of cornmeal, muriatic acid, water, and essential oil, in about the proportions stated.
