Application September 22, 1950, Serial No. 186,181
1 Claim. 1
My invention relates to a toy ejection apparatus and more particularly toa toy mechanical means to eject a missile.
In my device I am able to propel a missile and/or aerial toy by mechanical means which is not against the law and which is not dangere ous land which does not get out of repair as easily as the present devices.
On form of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is ya perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-section.
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view, and
Figure 4 is a similar View of Fig. 2 in a released position.
Reading on Figures 1 to 4 inclusive, my device consists of a barrel member l0, said barrel member having a recessed portion I2 for receing a handle II; said barrel member having in its lower portion an inner chamber I3, and a recess I9 to house spring 2l. A closing cap IB ts over the bottom of said chamber, and a release pin I4, projects beyond the bottom of said cap I8 and into said chamber I3, said release pin I4 having a coll-ar portion I5, also contained in said cham'ber i3; and above said release pin i4 and collar portion I5, is a spring guide stud i6 for spring 2'I, said pin I4 having a tapered end Il, said closing cap I8 having vent holes 20, said barrel containing in its upper portion a tapered aperture 22 into which tapered aperture 22 ts missile 23, said missile 23 having a tapered portion 25 for fitting into aperture 22, said pin 23 having at its other or upper portion a marker 24.
My device may be operated with or without handle I I. My device operates vby striking release pin I4 against a, solid object to wit: a cement or flag side walk, earth, stone, Wood, metal and/or the like, forcing said release pin lI4 into inner chamber I3 of barrel I0, thus causing sulicient air compression so that when the end on release pin I4 hits, or strikes, end 25 of missile 23, the concussion thus created causes the release of said missile 23 to be ejected by the air compressed within said chamber into the atmosphere with considerable force. The contact of said release pin end with the end of said missile acts to release said missile. As soon as the pressure on pin I4 is released the spring 2I will reset the said pin I4 in its original position and the device is then ready to be reloaded. The marker 24 guides and controls the flight of the missile and also serves the purpose of easily locating the discharge missile 23 and making the device and/-or toy m-ore attractive and may therefore be painted bright colors so as to be easily visible. The spring 2I merely serves to reset release pin I4 and does not affect the release of the missile 23.
A parachute and/or aerial toy may be used in place of a marker.
2 What I claim is: A toy ejector comprising, in combination, a
barrel member, said barrel member having a slight recess on its `outer surface, said recess being capable of receiving a handle, said barrel having an inner chamber extending almost the entire depth of said barrel, said inner barrel chamber having a closing cap on its lower end, said closing cap containing vent holes, said barrel chamber housing a spring, said spring extending the entire depth `of said barrel chamber, a release pin projecting through said closing cap into said inner barrel chamber and spring, said release pin having a collar near the end within said inner barrel chamber and beneath said spring, said release pin having a taper on its en-d passing through said closing cap, said inner barrel chamber containing Ia spring guide stud extending beyond :said collar on said release pin and into said spring, the upper inner .portion of said barrel chamber having a tapered aperture, said tapered aperture Vof said barrel chamber being capable of receiving a missile, said missile also having a slight taper on the end of said missile tting into said aperture of said barrel chamber, said missile having at its outer end a marker, said tapers of said missile and said barrel chamber being for the easy release of said missile by mechanical means, said means comprising compressed air resulting from said release pin being struck against a solid object forcing the collar on said release pin against said spring and compressing said spring and air in said barrel chamber, and forcing said release pin against the end of said missile, while said spring stud is guiding said spring, and causing said missile to be propelled out of said barrel chamber, and after the release of said missile, said release pin being moved back by said spring until said release pin rests on the bottom of said barrel chamber, said air vents permitting the air beneath the release pin collar to escape as said collar is moved downwardly by said spring, substantially as described.
