Description

Oct. 12, 1954 M. J. TUNNELL ADJUSTABLE PINLESS DIAPER Filed Oct. 5, 1953 Patented Oct. 12, 1954 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,691,376 ADJUSTABLE PINLESS- DIAPER Myrtle Jones Tunnell, Birmingham, Ala. Application October 5, 1953, Serial No. 384,044
2 Claims. 1
This invention relates to an adjustable pinless diaper. It has for its main objects to provide such a diaper that will be highly satisfactory for the purpose intended, simple in structure, easy to attach on a baby, cheap to manufacture, and attractive in appearance.
Further objects are to provide a diaper free of pins for its use, absolutely safe, and adapted to remain in its proper position for use no matter how active the child may be.
Other objects and advantages will appear from the drawing and description.
By referring generally to the drawing, a part of this application, it will be observed that Fig. 1 is a plan view, with part cut away, of a diaper made according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a front View of the diaper in place for use on the body of a child; Fig. 3 is a side view of the diaper in place for use on the body of a child; and Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view showing the double thickness of the diaper and the extra portion attached to one cloth part of the diaper and positioned between the two main parts.
Similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the diaper comprises two pieces of cloth I and 2 sewed together by thread stitches 3. A third piece of cloth 4 is attached by thread stitches 5 to one of the main cloth pieces. The main pieces are provided with slots 6 for the ends 1 to be inserted therethrough when the diaper is placed for use on a child as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The waist band portion of the diaper is provided with a plurality of snap type fasteners 8 of the inserting portion on one face of the band with a receiving portion 9 at each end of the band in order for the ends I to be inserted through the slots 6 to form loops ID with the inserting portions 8 attached in the desired receiving portions 9 to thus hold the band approximately tight around the waist of the child.
From the foregoing it will appear that the diaper is adapted for use without any kind of fastening pins such as safety pins and the like. Also the diaper is adjustable as to waist size by use of the fasteners that are in different positions for this purpose.
The diaper may be made of any material suit- 2 able for the purpose; also it may be made in different sizes.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to limit same to the exact and precise details of structure, but reserve the right to make all modifications and changes so long as they remain within the scope of the invention and the following claims.
Having described my invention I claim:
1. A diaper of the character described comprising two pieces of cloth of similar outline form sewed together at their edges, said form having a portion as waist bands adapted to fit around the waist of a child, each side of the form starting at the end of the band defining substantially a half circle and terminating at a portion of the cloth formed similar to a Wide fiat cork, each side of said cork shaped form having a slot therein of a size for the ends of the said waist band tobe inserted therethrough; a third piece of cloth attached by sewing to the inner face of one of the other cloth pieces and positioned in the center of same; a plurality of fasteners of the inserting structure attached to one face of said waist band, each end of the waist band having a receiving fastener on the face opposite the face having the inserting portion and being adapted to fit upon said inserting portions to thus retain the diaper in place for use.
2. A diaper of the character described comprising a form made of two pieces of cloth sewed together at their surrounding edges, a third piece of cloth attached by sewing to the inner face of one of said other pieces and in the center portion thereof, a part of said form being a waist band,
another part of the form being shaped similar to a wide fiat cork, the portion of the form between the waist band portion and the cork shaped portion being shaped like the outside of two half circles facing each other with space between them; the corked shaped portion having two slots formed therein; the waist band portion having fastening means attached thereto, said fastening means comprising snap type buttons in two parts, one part being for receiving a portion of the other part known as the inserting part.
