The primary object of the present invention is to provide a camp stove including a casing open at its top and a perforated baliie plate slidable readily cleaned.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed,

The rear wall 56 of the support 54 is hinged, as at 62, to the rear wall i4 of the casing I0 to permit vertical swinging movement of the support 54 relative to the casing l0 as shown by arrows A.

The member 54 supports a rectangular angle iron frame member 84 on which there is mounted a grid or grill 65. The grill 66 may be hardware cloth or any similar type material and is welded in place at allcontact points, to the frame member 64. A hand grip 58 is xed to the forward rail of the frame member 64. y

In practical use of the invention, a iire is built in the box l and the support 54 lowered against the casing l0. The walls 56, 58 and 68 will retain articles relative to the grill B5 during raising and lowering of the support 54 and these walls 56, 58 and G also act as wind shields.

The plate 38 is raised and moved into the casing to separate the grill openings in the plate 38 permit some of the hot air rising in the casing to pass through the plate 38 to contact food on the grid 65.

It Should be noted that the shielding plate 38 provides the positive heat control method inasmuch as it will function as a damper or baiiie. Also, the leg supports 22 may be hinged to the end walls so that they may be folded in toward the center and thereby provide a more compact unit for transportation purposes.

A lightweight top T for the entire unit is hinged to the rear wall 56 and may be lifted all the way over so that when not in use it simply hangs down toward the ground at the back of the unit. When the top T is in use, it will rest on top of the U-shaped frame or grill support 54. The top will prevent the escape of smoke and heat and it will provide much greater efficiency in cooking.

In view of the foregoing description taken in Vconjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claim.

A camp stove comprising a casing forming a combustion chamber and including a forward wall, a rear wall, a pair of end walls and a bottom wall, said bottom wall adapted to form a fuel support, said casing having forward and rear supporting legs, said legs having outer walls that are flush with said forward and rear walls, a pair of guides mounted on said end walls spaced above said bottom wall and extending between said forward and rear walls, said forward wall having an elongated horizontal slot therein extending between said guides and in line therewith, a perforated baie plate slidable in said slot and on said guides, hooks carried by the plate at its rear edge engaging the lower edges of the slot to support the plate vertically from the forward wall when the plate is moved forwardly out of the slot, said slot being spaced vertically from the lower ends of said legs a distance greater than the length of said plate whereby said plate will rest against said forward legs and front wall when it is withdrawn from the slot, a U-shaped frame overlying the casing and including a web portion and a pair of leg portions integrally formed with and joined by said web portion, hinges securing the web portion of said frame to said rear wall, and a grid member secured to and conned within said frame in overlying relation to said casing, said bafe plate positioned between the bottom of said casing and grid to regulate the amount of heat passing to the grid.
