0. A. BAILEY.
DRAWER PULL.
No. 267,302. Patented Nov. 7, 1882.
WITNESSES ATTORNEYS NITE STATES ATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. BAILEY, OF MIDDLETOWN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR LIO THE MIDDLETOWN HARDWARE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DRAWER-PU LL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 267,302, dated November '7, 1882,
Application filed July 15, 1882- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES A. BAILEY, a citizen of the United States. resident of Middletown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Drawer Knobs or Pulls; and I do hereby declare that. the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of this invention in a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a front view with that much in section as is indicated by the line a: in Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a vertical section. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view'of the thimble.
This invention has relation to hanging drawer-pulls; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the verticallyslotted convex-end thimble-socket, the eyebolt pivoted thereto, and the knob or handle havingitsend inserted into the thimble-socket and secured thereto by means of a rivet, all as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter a designates an eyeboltdesigneil to pass through the front of a drawer or through a door.
I) is a conical escuteheon on this bolt, and 0 the nut, whereby the bolt is fastened on the inside of the drawer or door.
(1 is a stop or guard on the bolt next to the eye 0.
g indicates the thimble-sooket, Whichisformed with a rounded end, h, vertically slotted, as indicated at k. In the slot k is seated the eye 6 of the bolt a, being secured in position therein by means of the transverse pivot pin or bearing Z, which extends from side to 40 side of the rounded end h. I
The open end m of the thimble is designed to engage the stem 8 of the knob or handle 2, said stem being shouldered at o and inserted into the end of the thimble up to the shoulder. It is then fastened by means of a rivet-pin, 1", extending through the stem 8 and through the perforations p of the thimble, which are made diametrically opposite each other near the end m thereof.
The eye 0 of the bolt (1, is made of even diameter with the rounded and slotted end of the thimble, or of slightly-larger curvature, so that when pivoted in position it will fully engage the slot and fill out the contour of the thimble end.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The drawer-pull consisting of the vertically- 6o slotted convex-end thimble-socket g, the eyebolt to, pivoted thereto, and the knob or handle 2', having its shouldered stem 8 inserted into the open end of the thimble-socket and secured thereto by means of a rivet-pin, 1", substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
CHAS. A. BAILEY.
