1 Claim.
My invention relates to a recording arrangement.
An object of my invention is to provide a simple device which can be used in conjunction with record sheets or columnar pads, which device will provide means for maintaining a correct record in that the device can be moved along the record sheet, and so that the device can also be used for drawing a line at spaced intervals when it is desired to add columns at such intervals.
A further object of my invention is to provide the arrangement in a device which is of simple construction.
With these and other objects in view, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of the various parts of my device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a columnar pad used in combination with mydevice,
Figure 2 is an enlarged detail, and v Figure 3 is an end view of a further detail portion.
My invention contemplates the provision of a simple device which can be used in connection with a columnar pad or similar recording system, and wherein the device will keep a record of the various items, the device being movable with respect to the pad, and being accurately guided.
I have used the character In to designate generally the top sheet of a columnar pad, the sheet including the usual spaced lines at H as well as the horizontal lines l2, several of said sheets being usually provided, and attached to a base sheet l3 (see Figure 3).
I have further used the character Hi to indicate a flat lengthened metal or other plate which is slightly longer than the sheet [0, the plate [4 having the upper edge l5 and lower edge IE, and welded or otherwise attached to the side edges I! of the plate M are spaced arcuate clips 18, which are adapted to snugly receive the pencils l9, these pencils being of any commercial type.
Imprinted on one side of word Expenditures indicated by the character 20, and on the other side is the word Income," the other side of the plate being not necessarily shown. Also, marked in the various spaces 2| are suitable indicating terms such as, for instance, Personal Groceries, Seed, Fertilizer, Car 8: Gas Repairs, Wages, etc., the other, or Income side also having suitable terminology, such as, Cattle Raised and Sold, Eggs, Poultry, Dairy, etc.
It will thus be noted that the pencil can be the plate I 4 is the used for marking on the required spaces, and that when the plate 14 is moved along the surface of the sheet ID, that the clips ill will provide a guide for accurately maintaining the plate in proper relation to the horizontal lines, and that the various expenditures and income items can be entered as the plate is moved downwardly.
Also, in many cases it is desired to summarize at every tenth line, or other intervals, in which case a line can be drawn along either edge l5 or [6 and the additions made.
The device thus provides a complete bookkeeping system, with a convenient arrangement for holding the pencils so that they will not become lost, the device also operating to carry the various items in an accurate manner every day or every several days as required, it being understood that the arrangement can be used in a variety of bookkeeping systems.
It will now be seen that I have provided the various advantages set forth in the objects of my invention with various other advantages being readily apparent.
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of my invention without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents which may be reasonably included within their scope.
I claim as my invention:
A device for columnar pads comprising a laterally extending plate adapted to rest upon said columnar pad and including terminology thereon for items to be entered on said columnar pad, guide means attached at the sides of said plate for maintaining said plate in correct position on said columnar pad, including spaced pairs of pencil clips attached thereto, said pencil clips being adapted to secure pencils therein, said plate including terminology on either side thereof for providing expenditure records and income records, said plate having upper and lower straight edges to provide means for marking lines on said columnar pad at desired intervals, said pencil clips including leaves extending above and below the plane of said plate for thereby providing said guide means.
WILLIAM F. WELLENDORF.
