Specification of Letters Patent No. 26,674, dated. January To all whom it may concern: y

Beit known that I, B VB. HAWSE, of Morrisville, in the county of Lamoille and State of Vermont, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Clothes-Driers; and I do herebydeclare that the.following is a full, clear, and exact description of the` same,

reference being had to the annexed drawing, forming part of this specification, in the several figures of which similar characters of reference denote the same part.

` Figure l is a perspective view of my clothes drier, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectionof the same on line The nature of the invention consists in having both hubs perforated, so as to be movable upon the shaft, and having a cord attached to the upper hub passing down around a pulley on the lower hub, and up over a swivel pulley on the'head of the shaft, so that this cord performs the double function of elevating the hubs, and expanding the frame. On the lower hub is a self-acting, ratchet eccentric under which the cord passes, which presses it against the hub, and holds it secure so as to fasten the frame firmly at any desired height on the shaft.

In the drawing S, is the shaft, having upon it the two movable hubs H, H.

B, is a band at the head of the shaftto prevent the hubs from slippingoff.

C, is the cord attached to the pper hub H,passing around the pulley p, on the lower one H, and over the swivel pulley P, on the head of the shaft, said swivel pulley having a round headed pivot working in a socket in the head of the shaft, allowing it to revolve easily with the frame. y i

R, is the self acting ratchet eccentric on the lower hub H, which presses cord C, against the hub, and holds the framelsecure in any desired position `on the shaft.
