.The object `di? my present "invention "has .been toiproduce certainnovelpackaging andtoy structure .vending means 'or'facilitating the merchandising `of bubble gum, candy, and the like.
In .its preferred .'form the invention contem plates the .provision .of a iolizlable 'box or container .on lthe 'bottom .or .other suitable lportion of .which are 'carried .a series yof loops after the manner-.of..formation.of .the loops of a cartridge belt. A 'full `understanding .of .my (invention .Will be had upon reference to 'the following detail .description, .and .toia .preferred .embodiment of lthe invention .as illustrated :in the .accompanying drawings.

Said ends 4 are slightly different in that one of them is provided with a short iiap member 5 and the other carries the top or cover section 6 of the container. Said cover section may be formed 'with the flaps 'I and 8 at its free ends, the ap portion 'I adapted to engage the opposite end 4 of the container and the flap 8 adapted to underlie the bottom or section carrying section I of the container when the latter is folded in condition of Figure l. Either or both of the members 'I and 8 may have mucilage or other adhesive applied thereto for sealing action after common practice so that the container may be effectively sealed closed at the time of its vendition to the purchaser.
On the section supporting base or bottom section E of the container I apply a strip of material designated S which is formed into small loop members III at intervals in its length and which is secured to the part I by suitable adhesive between the member I and portions of said strip 9 located intermediate of the several loop parts I0.
The confection carrying section I is divided into sections by means of perforations or Weakening lines cut therein, as designated at II, so that as seen in Figure 3 there are practically ve of the sections mentioned, each carrying a loop it for confection body. Of course, if the container is made longer than that which is illustrated in the drawing there may be a larger number of the sections which are designated Ia for the purposes of this description. Or again, if a container of lesser size than shown in Figure 2 is desired, there may be a less number of loops It and a corresponding less number of the sections Ia. Each of the sections Ia of the loop carrying section I is provided with a notch i2 at the lower edge portion thereof and with a small aperture I 3 opposite said notch and adjacent the upper edge thereof. The purpose of the parts I2 and I3 is to enable detachable interlocking engagement with each section Ia by a supporting pin or spring clamp member I4 having the inner side thereof forming the clamp member element for engaging with or over a belt which may be worn by the child who has purchased the container of my invention and has placed the section in the condition in which it is shown in Figure 3 for use as a cartridge belt section, so to speak.
The lower loop portion of the clamping member I4 engages over the lower edge of the section Ia of the base section I with which it cooperates and the clamp members are normally mounted on the end sections I a when the container is supplied to the purchaser. The upper end portion of each clamp member I4 at the rear side of sections Ia carrying the loops I0 is interlocked with the material of the section I by passing through the aperture I3.
It will be observed from Figure 3 of the drawings that each of the loops I0 has inserted therein the confection or other particular vendable commodity which is shaped in the form of a bullet and which is preferably covered by tinfoil to somewhat enhance the resemblance of the unit to a bullet. The resemblance may be somewhat superficial because the confection bodies may be iiattened on their inner Sides. n-
stead of completely round, though this is not a. material matter so far as my invention is concerned.
The manner of use of my invention will be apparent from the foregoing in the light of the following description.
When the commodities to be sold in the container of the invention are packed properly they will be enclosed fully in the box-like structure of Figure 'l and sold in such condition. The child or other purchaser who buys the container, upon receiving the same, will tear off the end sections 4 at the end of the base section I and also tear off the side sections of portions 2 at the upper and lower longitudinal edges of the section I. This brings the section supporting section I of the container to the condition of Figure 3 and thereupon the person purchasing the article described can readily mount the section I upon his belt by engaging the clamp members I4 over the belt and pressing the same downwardly to fully engage the latter. Of course, under the above condition, the confection units I5 are readily accessible and, as stated, they may be gum, chocolate, or other candy bodies, or the like, wrapped in tinfoil. When the user has used or eaten or chewed the end confection bodies I5 he can detach the end sections Ia from the base section or main body section I and adjust the clamping members I4 from the positions shown in Figure 3 of the drawings to engage the slots I2 and apertures i3 of the next adjacent sections which have not yet been emptied of the confections contained in the loops thereof.
The foregoing sets forth generally the manner of use of my invention and it will be seen that an attractive method of merchandising confections of different kinds is supplied by means of the invention, as well as a method which enhances the interest of the purchaser who would usually be a child susceptible to being entertained by the manner of use of the invention.
The strip of material 9 has tear lines of weakening at points 9a aligned and coinciding with the like portions II of the base or carrying section I.
My invention contemplates also the use of the units seen in Figures 3, 4, and 7 in unit with the container, or separately therefrom.
rl'he clamping members I4 may be united to the container, as shown in Figure 2, when the container and contents are assembled, or laid in the container as seen in dotted lines in Figure l, when the package is sold. The members I4 may also be engaged with the belt portion of pants.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A combination confection containing package intended for childrens use as a toy cartridge belt simulating structure, comprising a container body for pre-conditioning the structure for sale and including a bottom confection holding section and parts including a cover for at least partially enclosing the contents of the container, confection carrying elements in the form of loops on the bottom section, and bullet shaped confections inserted in and supported by the loops, the container being made of tearable paper material and provided with weakened tear lines intermediate the enclosing parts and bottom holding section, enabling detachment along such lines of the said parts and cover from the bottom confection holding section.
2. A package and toy structure as claimed in claim 1 in which the bottom section is divided into portions each separated from the other by tear lines, and each said portion supporting one of the loop carrying elements and its supported confection whereby as each confection is used, the loop and its supporting portion may be torn off the bottom section to reduce its size.
3. A package and toy structure as claimed in claim 1 in which the bottom section is divided into portions each separated from the other by tear lines, and each said portion supporting one of the loop carrying elements and its supported confection whereby as each confection is used, the loop and its supporting portion may be torn off the bottom section to reduce its size, each of the portions of the bottom section separated by said tear lines being formed at one edge with a. notch and near its other edge with an aperture adapted to receive a clamping member for connecting the latter thereto.
