The present invention relates to automatic window cleaners and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.
Generally, there is provided an apparatus which may be easily and quickly attached or removed from brackets or the like mounted upon a window frame and which includes motor operated means for moving a squeegee reciprocally along the surface of the window. Water is supplied to the squeegee through a hose. Provision is also made for a plurality of adiustably mounted squeegees to operate simultaneously upon windows having panes in different planes.
It is an object of the invention to provide a window cleaning apparatus which is automatic in its operation.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an automatic window cleaner which may be attached and removed from a window frame.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an automatic window cleaner having means for simultaneously cleaning panes in different planes.
Another object of the invention is the provision of novel means for reciprocating a squeegee or the like in a window cleaning apparatus.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specificationI taken in conjunction with the drawings, in which:

Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective View of of the device shown in Figures 1 and 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, there is shown therein a wind-ow frame I0 hav-- ing clips Il attached thereto for the removable reception oi a pair of horizontally extending guide rods 153 upon each of which is slidably mounted a bracket I3.
The brackets I3 are each attached to a frame Bt.
There is also provided a substantially U- shaped member 3l having a motor 32 centrally mounted thereon and having adjustably connected to each leg thereof, by means of wing nuts 33, a slotted arm 3l! each of which is adjustably connected to a slotted projection 35 carried at the rear of a frame 36 by means of pairs of wing nuts 3l. Each frame 36 is provided with a perforated hollow squeegee 38 at its inner edge and each squeegee is adapted to engage one pane 39 of a window. Water is supplied to the squeegee 38 through passageways (not shown) in the frames 36 which passageways are, in turn, connected with tubes Ml and electrical current for the motor 32 is supplied through Wires 4l.
in operation, it will be apparent that the apparatus described may be detachably mounted by inserting the guide rods into the clamps H and when thus in position, Water may be forced through the openings in the squeegee as the motor causes the same to be reciprocally moved by means of a reversing switch (not shown) over the panes of glass and that the plane of each squeegee may be selected and adjusted by the means described. When the Windows have been washed, the water may be turned off and the squeegees utilized to dry the Windows in the conventional manner. The apparatus may be then quickly and easily removed to another window and the process repeated.
While but one form of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim. y
What is claimed is:
rIhe combination with a window construction including a frame and a pair of pane-containing sashes mounted in said frame in different planes therein, of a cleaning apparatus comprising a horizontally extending rod removably mounted at the upper end of said frame, a like rod horizontally extending and removably mounted at the lower end of said frame, a bracket slidably mounted upon each of said rods, an elongated casing alixed to each of said brackets and each extending in spaced parallel relation to one of said window panes, a perforated hollow squeegee carried by each of said casings and each being in contact with one of said panes, a longitudinally extending slotted extension upon each of said casings, a U-shaped member having a bight portion and a pair of legs, an extension for each of said legs adjustably connected to its respective leg at one end and adjustably con-k 3 nested with one of the slotted extensions at its other end, a roller shaft extending vertically out- Wardy from each of said brackets, a roller of yieidabie material mounted upon each of said shafts and frictionaiiy engaging one of said rods, a motor mounted upon the bight portion of the U-shaped member, a gearing mounted in each of said brackets and connected with the respective roller shafts, a flexible shaft connecting the motor with each of said gearings, and a hose for supplying uid to the interior of each of the casings.
