Various types of improvised slings have been provided for throwing shot, balls and other ob jects, however, with devices of this type it is difficult to control the path of a projectile or the distance the projectile travels and such devices are, therefore, not adapted for playing games. The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a ball throwing sling whereby the path the ball travels and also the momentum imparted to the ball maybe controlled by the operator.

Another object of the inventionis to provide an improved type of sling for throwing balls and the like in which the ball is positively retained until it is manuallyreleased.

A'further object of the invention is to provide an improved type of sling for manually discharging projectiles and the like which is of a simple and economical construction.

The intermediate part of the sling may be provided with openings 26 through which a strap, may be laced, to facilitate gripping a ball.

With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a pocket ,or pouch formed with a flat piece of leather or other suitable material folded midway of the length'thereof and having openings through the folded sections and also having straps extended from the ends of said sections with one of the straps provided with a finger receiving loop, and the other a thumb and forefinger gripping tab.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection-withthe drawings wherein:

With the parts assembled as shown and described, a ball 50 which may be a rubber ball, soft ball, hard ball, or a projectile of any suitable description may be placed in the pocket with parts extended through the openings [4 and I5 and with the loop I9 positioned on the second finger vof a hand and {a tab 18 held be.- tween the thumb and forefinger the sling may be actuated so that the ball travels in a circle, and, at the will of the operator, the tab I8 is released and the ball leaves the pocket traveling toward a point or goal.

It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and-arrangement of the parts without departing froin'the' spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is: p

In a ball throwing sling, the combination which comprises a sheet of leather having tapering ends, folded midway of the length thereof providing complementary sections and each of said sections having circular openings therein with the openings positioned to register with the center :;of "a ball carried; by the slingfand positioned between the sections ofthe sheet of material, fastening elements extended through said sections straddling the fold line and spaced from the -edges of the sections providing elevated secand positioned at the corners thereof forming a projectile holding pocket, eyelets extended through the extended ends of said sections, straps extended throughthe eyelets and secured tions at the corners of the sling whereby the central portion of the sling is bowed to provide a pocket, said sections having openings in the ends and straps freely connected to the sections through said openings in the ends, one of said straps having a finger receiving loop on the extended end thereof and the other of said straps having a thumb and finger gripping tab on the exte d n ANDREW S SIMKO.
