Various types of improvised slings have been provided for throwing shot, balls and other ob jects, however, with devices of this type it is difficult to control the path of a projectile or the distance the projectile travels and such devices are, therefore, not adapted for playing games. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a sling in which means is provided for holding one side positively to the finger of a hand whereas the other side is provided with readily releasable means so that a projectile may be This invention relates ito nags for th-rowing 2' ;.-;r. .1; '-Figu1"'ef2'- is=a similar vie ,lo'oking' tow-ard an edge of the-slingwitli parts of-the straps' broken awayand showing a 'ball in the pocket and'a hand in the position of 'holding-theends of the straps; Fig-ure S i's a 'detail-illus't ating the loop at-tli'e end of 'one o f'the straps.

The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a ball throwing sling whereby the path the ball travels and also the momentum imparted to the ball maybe controlled by the operator.
Another object of the inventionis to provide an improved type of sling for throwing balls and the like in which the ball is positively retained until it is manuallyreleased.
A'further object of the invention is to provide an improved type of sling for manually discharging projectiles and the like which is of a simple and economical construction.
sheet ll] of leather or other suitable material folded at the center on a line I I providing similar sections [2 and I3 with openings land it provided in the sections, and straps l6 and H extended from V-shapedends of the sections with the straps It provided with a tab 18 and the strap I! provided with a finger receiving loop 19.
To provide a pocket in the sling the sections !2 and I3 are secured together, at the edges, with rivets 20 and 2|, the rivet 20 extended through openings 22 and 23 and the rivet 21 extended through similar openings 24 and 25.
The intermediate part of the sling may be provided with openings 26 through which a strap, may be laced, to facilitate gripping a ball.
The extended end of the section [2 of the sling is provided with openings'28 and 29 and with the end folded on a line 30 an eyelet 3| may be mounted in the end for receiving the ends of the strap [6 which, as illustrated in Figures 1 and '2 is inserted through the eyelet with the end extended through the eyelet secured to the strap by a rivet 32, and with the end of the strap reinforced by strips 33 and 34.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a pocket ,or pouch formed with a flat piece of leather or other suitable material folded midway of the length'thereof and having openings through the folded sections and also having straps extended from the ends of said sections with one of the straps provided with a finger receiving loop, and the other a thumb and forefinger gripping tab.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection-withthe drawings wherein:
Figure 1 is a view showing a side elevation of.
the sling,
The upper end of the strap [6 is folded over, as
shown in Figure 4 and a U-shaped tab it is positioned over the folded over end of the strap The tab is secured to the end of the strap with rivets 35 and V 35, as shown in Figures 2 and 4..
The section I3 of the pocket'is also-provided with openings similar to the openings '28 and 29, as indicated by the numerals 31 and 38 and this end of the section is folded on a line 39 whereby theend of the strap I? may be secured provide an inner portion M of the loop is and the folded over portion and also the ends of the loop 19 are secured to the strap with rivets 45 and 46. v
With the parts assembled as shown and described, a ball 50 which may be a rubber ball, soft ball, hard ball, or a projectile of any suitable description may be placed in the pocket with parts extended through the openings [4 and I5 and with the loop I9 positioned on the second finger vof a hand and {a tab 18 held be.- tween the thumb and forefinger the sling may be actuated so that the ball travels in a circle, and, at the will of the operator, the tab I8 is released and the ball leaves the pocket traveling toward a point or goal.
It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and-arrangement of the parts without departing froin'the' spirit of the invention.
