Application May 7, 1952Jssnitrnes-2sd4sc- 3 Claims; (crane-sea,
This: invention relates to a display device and more 'particu'larly'to'a merchandise displayg rack particularly adapted for store windows. A primaiy objectpf the=-invention istlie"provision of an improved display device for displaying merchandise such as garments or the like in an advantageous manner.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which may be supported between the floor and ceiling of a display window, or interiorly of a store, means being provided to accommodate the device to a variety of ceiling heights.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of such a display rack which includes perforated wire mesh or the like whereby the articles to be displayed may be secured thereto and which will further provide a relatively broad surface for the displaying of sheet materials.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is sturdy and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in operation, simple and inexpensive to manufacture and assemble, and which will display merchandise in a highly advantageous manner.
Other objects will in part be obvious and in part be pointed out as the description of the invention proceeds and shown in the accompanying drawing wherein there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of this inventive concept.
In the drawing- Figure l is a side elevational view of one form of device embodyin the instant inventive concept,
Figure 2 is a front plan view of the device disclosed in Figure 1,
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the lines 3--3 of Figure 2 as view in the direction indicated by the arrows,
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the line 4-4 of Figure 2, as viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows,
Figure 5 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the line 5-5 of Figure 1,
Figure 6 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the line 6-4; of Figure 2 as viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views of the drawing.
Having reference now to the drawing in detail, there is generally disclosed at I0 a display rack which comprises a pair of side rod members II, to each end of which is secured in any desired mannerg as by weldi-ng a tubular guide I22? Adiiidsti rig i rod's I 3 are =posi tioned through guide sleeves I2 in parallel relation with rods 'I I and extend.fthroughladditionatguide sleeves I 4 positioned in spaced relation to the sleeves I2 and secured as by welding I5 to rods Ii. Each of guide sleeves I4 is provided with a boss I6 having a threaded aperture II therethrough through which projects the threaded end I 8 of a set screw, including an operating head 20. The inner ends of each rod I3 are offset as at 2| in order to provide a stop member preventing complete withdrawal of the rods.
It will now be readily apparent that upon loosening of the set screw rods I3 may be adjusted relative to rods II in order that each upper rod I3 may be engaged with the ceiling C and the end of the lower of each rod I3 engaged with the floor F in order to securely hold the frame structure in position between the floor and ceiling.
Secured to the edge of each rod I I at its upper extremity 25 is the end of a sheet 26 of wire mesh or similar perforated or foraminous material. The lower end of the sheet is secured to the lower end 21 of each rod II and intermediate portions 30 are secured at spaced intervals to each of rods II as by welds 3I, or in any other desired manner. The arrangement is thus such as to provide a series of arcuate protuberances of foraminous or perforate material over which sheet material may be draped or through the interstices of which may be inserted similar articles. The overall arrangement is thus an attractive and pleasing ornamental display rack which may be readily adjusted to a variety of sizes and heights of ceiling space to advantageously display merchandise from floor to ceiling.
Each of the rods II may have secured to the outer edge thereof at spaced intervals one or more tubular sleeves 33 through which may be extended the depending ends 34 of wire display racks 35 adapted for the display of individual smaller articles along the sides of the central display.
From the foregoing it will now be seen that there is herein provided an improved display structure which accomplishes all of the objects of this invention and others, including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.
As various embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as various modifications may be made in the embodiments hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that 3 all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What is claimed is:
1. A display rack for mounting between a ceiling and floor, said rack comprising a pair of elongated rods disposed in parallel relation, an elongated wire mesh sheet fixed at spaced intervals to said rods, said sheet between the points of attachment thereof to said rods being outwardly ofiset from said rods, and extensible adjusting rods carried by said rods for clamping engagement with the ceiling and floor.
2. A display rack for mounting between a ceiling and floor, said rack comprising a pair of elongated rods disposed in parallel relation, an elongated wire mesh sheet fixed at spaced-intervals to said rods, said sheet between the points of attachment thereof to said rods -being outwardly ofiset from said rods, a pair of sleeves carried by each rod adjacent each end thereof, extensible adjusting rods in said sleeves, and means securing said adjusting rods in adjusted clamping position.
3. A display rack for mounting between a ceiling and floor, said rack comprising a pair of elongated rods disposed in parallel relation, an'elongated wire mesh sheet fixed at spaced intervals to said rods, said sheet between the points of attachment thereof to said rods being outwardly offset from said rods, a pair of sleeves carried by each rod adjacent each end thereof, extensible adjusting rods in said sleeves, means securing said adjusting rods in adjusted clamping position, an intermediate sleeve carried by each elongated rod, and an article supporting bracket carried by each intermediate sleeve.
