. 6 Claims. ((1120-32) p This invention relates to a typists copy holder with a ib'asal portion which combines the functions offorming a support for a typewriter and "of providing a space containing a compartment to receive in pack formation the used sheets of the copy.

= Although numerous copy holding devices have been devised, there is a felt need, in the art to which this invention pertains, for the provision "of a copy holding device which will, in a space economizing manner, provide for the temporary storing of "a considerable number of the sheets which have beencopied, so that they will be out of the typists way and yet in a readily accessible situation.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the copy holding device therein shown which may have itsvarious wall portions made of a plastic sub "stance, such as Lucite, comprises a hollow base portion I; which forms a receptacle substantially rectangular as viewed either in plan or cross section, and which is supportable on a desk or table.

This base-has a top wall 8 which, when the de- ,vice is supported as aforesaid, extends horizontally and forms a suitable support for the type- Writers delineated in phantom lines in Fig. 2.

-The forwardly concave front plate .or wall I3 of the standard III has side edge portions which overlie the front edge portions of the side walls I2 of said standard. The lower edge portion of said wall I3 rests upon the upper edges of the side walls II of the used copy compartment and abuts against the rear end of the horizontal wall or plate 8, the latter wall preferably having its rear edge beveled as shown in Fig. 1' to aid in keeping said front plate I3 in place. The upper edge portion of said plate I3, each side thereof, fits within a notch I3a (see Fig. 2) provided for it under a forwardly projecting shoulder I3b.

The rear edge portion of eachside wall I [of the hollow standard II] is arcuate, the amount of curvature in each edge being greatest throughout the upper portion of the standard. Said edges are each bordered by a parallel, adjacent groove I1 and the side edge portions of the rear wall I4 of the chute are in contained, secured relation to the grooves provided, as aforesaid. f

The aforesaid base portion I of the device has a substantial floor 20 and in a spaced relation to the rear end of said floor there upstands a partition plate 2I which partitions the interior of said base off from an alcove 22 partly closed in at its rear side by an upstanding wall portion 23, said alcove spanning the .spacebetween the rear lower corner portions of the aforesaid sidewalls I I of the hollow base I. The lower edge of the aforesaid wall I4, and the lower ends of the containing grooves therefor, terminate on a level with the top of said upstanding wall- 2|, thus forming astructure which guides each descending sheet I6 onto the top of the pack of such sheets accumulating within the hollow base 1.

Near the bottom of each side of the hollow base I is a horizontal, inwardly projecting rib 25, and as .a result of the presence of these ribs an underlying guide groove Ztisproduced along each side of the floor of the base I to receive a drawer means shown as a slide 21 having a clothe side walls surev 28 hinged to its front end by a pair of retract said slide, In Figs. 1 and 4 a rectangular countersink 28a is shown' provided in the front edge portion of each side wall II ofthe base 1, into which said closure i slidable after it has been swung upwardly.

Returning to the copy holding and feed means, having the general designation 15 in Figs. 1 and 2, said means comprises a conventional platen roller 35 and its appurtenances, which include the milled knob 36, line advancing lever 31 and bail carried pairlofsmall guidewrollerstfl.
