This invention relates to a side opening carrying case.

The chief object of the present invention is to provide a carrying case and the like whereby tow-bar structures can be encased and returned in enclosed position, which protects them, and other merchandise therefrom, etc.

This invention can be expeditiously picked up and carried by one man for loading and unloading purposes when the tow-bar structure is included therein.

The chief object of this invention is to provide a suitably reenforced case that, when not used for containment, can be collapsed into a relatively small volume for storage, etc., if of fabric material. When made of other than fabric material such collapse is not obtained.

Such cases, however, readily lend themselves to easy loading and unloading, ease of manual transportation, ease of closing and opening, etc.

Other objects and features of the invention Will be set forth more fully hereinafter.

The full nature of the invention will be understood from the accompanying drawings and the following description and claims.

In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a case embodying the invention, the access side being shown in open position.

In the drawing, Ill indicates a bottom, II short ends, I2 reentrant or concavely upwardly and inwardly directed end extensions, I3 a top, pg; venon reference being had to the appended I4 a correspondingly outlined xed side and I5 a correspondingly outlined movable side or door hinged at its bottom edge I5 to the forward edge of the bottom Ill.

When made of fabric such as heavy duck or canvass the parts aforesaid may comprise single or double thicknesses and all are suitably sewed together. A strap or web strip I8 of desired thickness and width is sewed or otherwise secured to bottom It and also to end walls II and extensions I2 thereof. One end I9 is the feeding end. The other end 2t carries buckle or lock structure 2|. When associated together there is formed a loop which can be disposed upon the shoulder of the person carrying the case.

While a Zipper structure may close the case, herein buckle straps 22 are provided each mounting a buckle 23. Secured to side I5 as at 24 are straps 25 which are buckle associated to close the case. Herein one top strap and at each end extension two straps are provided.

Note that the carrying strap I 8 reenforces the bottom, ends and the end extensions. If desired, bearing elements 2@ may be clinched to the bottom so that the case can normally rest thereon. Also instead of the buckle straps, or the Zipper closure, eyelets may be provided in the adjacent edges of side I5 and the ends, end extensions and top and a rope lacing can secure the side in closed position. These constitute the three preferred forms of connections but do not exclude others, such as snap fasteners and the like.

Herein side I5 is provided with a central reenforcing sheet 30. When of fabric it is sewed to said side. Also side I4 is reenforced by metal plate 29 (such as boiler plate) riveted or grommeted as at 28 to said side I4. Herein also each corner, as it were, is reenforced by a metal boot or shield 2'I having side 3|, top 32, end 33 and bottom 34. This boot is riveted or grommeted to the adjacent walls as at 35. These boots and the plate 29 and sheet 30 are wear surfaces and are disposed inwardly of the case.

While the invention has been illustrated and described in great detail in the drawings and foregoing description, the same is to be considered as illustrative and not restrictive in character.

The several modications described herein as well as others which will readily suggest themselves to persons skilled in this art, all are considered to be within the broad scope of the inclaims.

The invention claimed is:

1. .A side opening case of a truncated triangular shape comprising a transversely at bottom, end walls, transversely flat inwardly and upwardly directed end wall extensions, and a transversely flat top wall secured in open chamber position at the ends of the upwardly and inwardly directed end Wall extensions, a side wall conforming in 1 outline to the chamber outline and peripherally rigid with the aforesaid, a, second side wall of similar conformation and hingedly connected at its bottom edge to the bottom edge, means detachably securing the second side wall peripherally to the adjacent edges of the other walls for case closing, and loop forming strap means secured to the bottom and all peripheral outlining walls except the top, the said last inentioned means providing a loop disposable above the top.
