Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILHELM BUCHHOLZ, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
BELT-HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 261,580, dated July 25, 1882. Application led April 3, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILHELM BUonlIoLz,
of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Hooks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ot' the invention, such as 7 will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
' My invention relates to belt-hooks; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the same, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan viewof the rear side of my belt-hook, showing the same secured to both ends of a belt, the hook being on top and the belt under. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the hook and belt, showing the same on the opposite side to that shown iu Fig. 1.. Fig. 3 is a transverse section 13a-ken through Fig. 2,1ine a: x. Fig. 4 is an isometric view of a portion of my belt-hook, showing the preferred manner of forming the-pins. Fig. 5- is a perspective view of the belt-hook.
A is a plate, which is provided with openings a a, or, if desired, notches bb. The object in providing these openings or notches is to determine the meeting line of the belt, as shown iu Fig. 1.
C C are pins, which may be formed integral with the plate A, or inserted therein in any suitable manner. These pins are, preferably formed wedge-shaped, andprovided with chiselshaped points, as shown in Fig. Ltof the drawings. The chisel-points and flat sides ot' the pins C C are formed at different angles, and hence are adapted to be turned or clinched in dii'erent'directions, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. By forming the pins and bending them as above described the belt-hook is held securely in place on the belt, and the pins are not so liable to tear the belt, their iiat faces bein g diagonal to thegraiu of the belt.
What I claim is- 1. In a belt-hook, the plate A, provided with one or more openings or notches formed in the said plate, substantially as and for the purpose shown and described.
2. In a belt-hook, the combination, with a plate, of two seriesof teeth, located one on each side ofthe transverse center of the plate, and adapted to be bent in an opposite direction and at a diiferent angle from each other, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereotI have signed my name 55 to this specification in the presence of two subscribin g witnesses.
WILHELM BUCHHOLZ.
