- the wiper-holder I In order to be able to bring the wiper-holder I into its operating position, the wiper-holder I must be revolved around the cams 3 and 3a in such a way that the cams 5 come sidelong of the guiding device I3 (see Fig. 6), in which posiiton the wiper-holder can be moved in the direction of the contact-roll, till it arrives in the position shown in Fig. 7. In this position of the wiper-holder I the pawl l0 drops behind the cam 3 which latter has reached the lower part part of the guiding track 9, and thus prevents the wiper-holder I from being lifted out once more. Now it is only possible for the wiperholder to be revolved around the cams 3 and 311 that have been locked by the pawls I0 and Illa.
- the wiper-holder I If the wiper-holder I has to be removed from the machine, it is suflicient to release the pawls I0 and Illa and thus to release the cams 3 and 3a. Due to the tension of the wiper wires the whole wiper-holder I is pushed back over a small distance. During this movement, the cam 5 of the sideplateZ co-operates with the beveled surface II of the guiding device I3, and the guiding device I3 is turned back over a short distance against the thrust of the spring I4. If now the wiper-holder I is seized and pulled back further, the guiding device I3 is pushed aside further by the cam 5; after having passed the cam 5, the device I3 shoots again into its locking position.
- the wiper-holder I cannot be brought again into its operating position by simply pushing it in, since the guiding device I3 prevents the straight pushing in, as has been explained above. Since the cam 3 is shorter than the cam 5, it is not within the reach of the guiding device I3, so that, after the cam 5 has pushed the guiding device I3 aside in the manner described before, the wiper holder I can be pulled out without difficulties.
- the rotative movement of the wiper-holder can be utilized to effect the conducting connections between the wipers of the holder and the supply conductors.
