SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 261,304, dated July 18, 1882.
Application filed May 10, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, ANDREW BURGLAND, of South Bay City, in the county of Bay and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in PaiLFasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms apart of this specication.
The nature of this invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the construction of devices for securing tobacco-pails together for shipment 5 and the invention consists in the. construction and operation of the various parts, all as more fully hereinafter deend of which is designed to engage with the ears upon the adjoining pail.
It is the practice in shipping pails of tobacco in quantities to turnv the two heads of two pails together and secure them together by double-pointed tacks or other analogous devices. This is accom panied by trouble and frequent loss, which will be avoided by the use ot' the hooks attached to the ears ot' the pail and operating as, shown in the drawing.
What I claim as my invention is The combination of two pails provided with bail-ears a and placed with -their heads together, as described, of the hooks c, secured to the bail-ears of one pail and detachably engaging with the bail-ears of the adjoining pail, as set forth.
