2 Claims. V(Cl. :is-140) Vread in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein said preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the ironing board with the sections unfolded or as they appear in ironing position.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view of the same.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on Figure 2 through iiange extension 34,` broken away vand taken through board 9, and returned and taken through side flange l I.
Referring more particularly to the drawings wherein the same reference numerals designate like parts in the several views 8 and 9 are the main sections of the foldable ironing'board, together presenting a contour approximating that of the usual single piece ironing board, the section 8 being the outer portion of the board and the section 9 the inner portion thereof having prong members to hook pad 36 and cover 31 on. 32` `are prong members passing through the section 9 of the board adapted to be raised suiiiciently to engage any suitable flexible covering on the board and 33 are corresponding-prong members similarly loosely mounted in apertured portions of the inturned horizontal portions or extensions 34 f the side flanges I l, and to which may be fastened the opposite end of said pad 3B and cover 31 when passed around the board to protect or present a desirable ironing surface.
It will, of course, be appreciated that a suitthe ironing board to a use, may be associated with the inner section of the ironing board,` as fully disclosed and claimed in the parent application Serial No. 719,799, now Patent No. 2,558,141, but inasmuch as the claims to this feature are retained in the parent case and no claim thereto is made herein, the illustrations hereof are confined to the divisible matter constituting the subject of this divisional case.
I claim:
1. An ironing device comprising a sheet metal panel having a Wide end, a narrow end and downhook engaging elewardly extending reinforcing side anges provided with inwardly projecting oifset portions, said panel and said offset portions having a plurality of apertures adjacent the broad end of the panel; prong members having upper and lower hooks said prong members loosely mounted and slidable in said apertures; and a cover and pad of generally rectangular configuration having a series of apertures adjacent one end positioned to register with the apertures in the panel and the offset portions, the upper hooks of the prong members in the panel and the lower hooks of the prong members in the offset portions engaging the surfaces of the panel and offset portions, said hooks raised sufficiently above said surfaces and extending through corresponding apertures in the pad and cover and engaging adjacent outer surfaces of the cover.
l 2. An ironing device comprising a sheet metal panel having a wide end, a narrow end and downwardly extending reinforcing side flanges provided with inwardly projecting offset portions, said panel and said offset portions having a plurality of apertures adjacent the broad end of the panel; prong members having upper and lower hooks said -prong members loosely mounted and slidable in said apertures; and a cover and pad of generally rectangular configuration having a series of apertures adjacent one end positioned to register with the apertures in the panel and the offset portions, the upper and lower hooks of vthe prong members inthe panel and the lower hooks of the prongl members in the offset portions engaging the surfaces of the panel and offset portions, said hooks raised sufficiently above said surfaces and extending through corresponding apertures in the pad and cover and engaging adjacent outer sur-faces of the cover to attach said pad and cover to the ironing device.
