The principal object of the present invention is to 'provide a keeper for double band slings which canbe quickly and easily operated for locking the double band at a point thereof when desired.

A'further and important object of the invention is to provide a keeper which is semi-automatic in its operation both when locking and when unlocking and which is simply and economically con-y structed.

A further object of the invention is toprovide a keeper which consists of one unitary 'member having elements thereof permanently connected to' one another.

The keeper 20 comprising the present invention consists of a pair of iiat parallel plates 2| and 22 between which are positioned

23 and 25 with bar 23 positioned at the top edge of plates 2|, 22 and bar 25 at. the bottom edge thereof. These elements are fastened together by a series of rivets 24 extending therethrough at each corner. Said

23 and 25 each have a, centrally located slot 21 and 26, respectively, formed in one edge thereof and which slots are diametri-f cally opposite to one another.

A locking arm 3i] has one end thereof positioned within the slot 21 of bar 23 with rivet 24 passing therethrough for pivotally supporting the same. The intermediate portion 3| of arm 30 has a wedge-shaped cross-sectional conguration as indicated in Figs. 8 and 9 of the drawing with the thin edge thereof directed towards the slide formed by plates 2 I, 22 and

The present keeper is mounted upon a sling by passing the double straps such as I and 2 through the centrally located rectangular opening formed within said slide and which opening is particularly sized and shaped for just slidably receiving said straps and guiding the same therethrough.

The keeper 20 can then be slid in either direc-'- tion as indicated by the arrows in Fig. 1 and when it is desired to lock straps I and 2 together, arm 30 is pvoted towards said slide and between said straps whereupon` the wedge portion 3l will ENT: i
