UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSHUA J. GREEN, on JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.
OIL-PRESS ENVELOPE.
SPECTFJZCATTON forming part of Letters Patent No. 260,862, dated July'll, 1882.
To all whom tt may concern: 7
Be it known that I, JOSHUA J.GREEN, of Jackson, county of Hinds, and State of Mississippi, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Oil-Press Envelopes, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this improvementis to furnish a double cake-making envelope that by its construction and combination efl'eotually over-' comes existing difficulties in the manufacture of two cakes at a pressure.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents the envelope open and ready for use, and Fig. 2 is a. side viewof envelope when closed.
The leavesA and A are made of woven horse-hair, with hair cords around the edges of their inner faces to prevent meal from spreading when under pressure, and covered,
for protection, on the outside with leather,
Application filed May 31,1882. (No model.)
has no leather covering. At its narrower end it 'is connected to the narrow end of A, as shown, by hair-cord connection 0, wide enough to allow one bag of meal to be encompassed.
The operation is to place the envelope open, as in Fig. 1, and with leather back down or underneath. Put on leaf A the bag of meal to be pressed, fold A over this bag, put another bag on A, and fold A over it. The envelope inclosing two bags of meal will thus be formed, as shown in Fig. 2.
g In an envelope so constructed two cakes can be made at a pressure, the oil can exude at every point, and the well-known objections to double. cake-makin g envelopes overcome.
Being aware thatenvelopes in book form for making two cakes at once have been in use, I do not claim this feature as new; but
What I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
" An oil-press envelope composed of the leaves A A A, placed one after the other, end to :end, and connected by flexible joint D 0, all
constructed as described and represented.
I In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of April, 1882.
