SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 260,561, dated July 4, 1882.
Application filed April 18, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DAVID MOO. FRENCH, of the city of Alexandria, in the county of Alexandria and State of Virginia, have invented an Improved Vaccination Vesicle and Pnstule Shield, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device adapted for application to the arm after the act of vaccination to protect the vesicle or pustule against abrasion orinjury from any cause; and it consists in a curved rigid plate which is centrally bulged and provided with means forits attachment to the body, as will hereinafter fully appear.
In the drawings forming a part hereof, Figure I shows the invention applied to the arm. Figs. II, III, and IVare views of the invention on an enlarged scale.
Similar letters of reference indicate similar parts in all the views.
A is-a curved plate, having the central bulge, a, and elastic straps b and c. The straps are provided with abnckle, d. The plateAis preferably madeot' hard rubber; but it may be constructed of metal or any suitable substance, and it should be perforated for ventilating purposes.
I am aware that bulged plates of materials more or less flexible have been used to protect corns on the feet, and such I do not claim; but
What I do claim as my invention is- A vaccination vesicle and pnstule shield which consists of a rigid bulged plate, preferably perforated, having means for its attachment to the body, substantially as specified.
