No. 280,107, dated June 26, 1883,
Application filed May 11, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that I, VVILLIAM G. WILD, of Bangor, in the county of Penobscot and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boots for Soaking the Feet of Horses; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 shows a side view of my invention; Fig. 2, a plan.
Same letters show like parts.
My invention consists of an improved boot for soaking the feet of horses or other hoofed animals, constructed of metal or other suitable material, and will be readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings.
At a is a casing inclosing the front of the hoof, the semicircular opening I) at the top fitting around the pastern.
At 0 is the sole, formed in one piece with said casing, and extending backward under the heel.
At d is shown what may be termed the counter of the boot, hinged at e, and provided at its top with a semicircular opening,
I f, corresponding with the opening I), and with it surrounding the pastern and held there by spring-catchcs g g on each side of the boot, engaging with projections h h on the casing a.
In order to make a tiglit joint between the parts a and d, the edges in contact may be made sufficiently smooth for the purpose for which the device is to be used 5 or the edge of one of said parts may be provided with a rubber or like packing, 13, cemented or otherwise secured thereto, in order to insure against leakage.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is- 1. The within-described boot, consisting of the casing a, hinged counter d, and springcatches g, securing the boot to the hoof, as and for the purposes set forth.
2. The within-described boot, consisting of the casing a, hinged counter d, packing z, and spring'catches 9, operating as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 9th day of May, 1883. 7
WILLIAM G. WILD.
Witnesses S. J. STEWART,
