It is inherent inthe design of the package that'a clinching member of some resilience' be employed and the use of fthe term clinching means or member in -thesp'ecification is understood to refer to a "resilient type of fastening or gripping means which in all cases is. adapted to engage externally the twoopposite sides of aj'bladd wrapper,fthus' to Amman and constantlymaintaindight compres sive forces which firmly hold the blades and adjacent wrapper portions against one another.
For example, in one simple form of the invention as shown in Figs. 1-3 inclusive, in which the clinching member operates from the external surfaces only of the wrapper, numeral 2|! refers to a flexible wrapper which may be of any suitable material such paper, plastic, or similar substance occurring in sheet'form. One end 22 of the strip is folded over upon itself as indicated in Fig. 1, to provide a blade sheath in,w.hich are slidably received a plurality of razor blades 24, arranged in longitudinally and progressively,overlapping relation. by means of a clinching member 26 of the type commonly, referred to as a paper clip, having wire ends or legs which are spread apart and slidably engaged over the opposite sides of the folded wrapper extremity 22. In the particular form, of clip noted, there .are two spaced ends of the clip bearing against one side of the wrapper andeanotherend bearing against the opposite side of the wrapper. at a point between the said first two clip .ends. As the clips seek to assume theirnornral position,- they exert compressive forces on two sides of theblade package for compressing the blades and immediately adjacent strip-portions against one another, thus producingan-appreciable frictional engagement, bymeans of which; the blades are held in fixed relation in the sheath. The length of the sheath is chosen so as to leave exposed ends of the blades proiectingoutwardly in a convenient position for withdrawal. I It will be observed that application of a compressive force occurs against one side of the wrapper at a point substantially midway thereof, while two other compressive forces are exerted on the other side of the wrapper at points more nearly adjacent the outer edges and as a result of this arrangementthere is induced a flexing of the blades and adjacent carrier strip portionsin such a manner that they are bent or,-bowed transversely of themselves. Blades 44 arranged in longitudinally overlapping relation, are slidably received in the manner already described, in a sheath formed by folding a wrapper 46 upon itself to present a folded end 48 of a length less than the length of any one of the blades 44-. Aclinched member 50 of resilient character is slidably engaged against the folded portions of the wrapper in the same general way common to-the clinched members already noted. Along that portion of the clinched member 50 which'occurs adjacent to the under side of the wrapper 46 are formed guide rib portions 52 and 54, which may conveniently be constructed by cutting out portions of the clinched member and bending them over into a right-angularly extending position so that they lie in spaced-apart relation and in parallel alinement; The under side of the wrapper is cut away to leave slots through which the guide ribs 52 and 54 are allowedto pass.
The upper side of the clinched me'mber50 may also be cut away to define a slot 56 which is in register with the guide ribs 52 and 54, and the portion of the wrapper occurring between the top of the clinched member 50 and the uppermost blade 44 is also recessed to define a slot through which the guideribs may extend. The guide rib arrangement :describedfunctions to maintain all of the blades in parallel alinement with one another, and moreover the rib tends to check displacement of the blade in a longitudinal direction to a limited degree. It will be observed that in removing a blade from the blade pack it must be passed over the rib without too great interference and this operation is provided for by forming the top edges of the rib portions with a bevel which gradually meets the plane in which the lowermost blade is located. If desired, the inner lowermost'end of the beveled edge may be slightly rounded. When a blade is-pulled away from the sheath, its central portion immediately adjacent to the end of the slot is caused to slide upwardly and over the rounded end and then along the beveled edge so that a releasing effect is achieved. A razor blade dispensingpackage iasset forth in claim 1 further characterized .in .that the blades are slotted and stacked so that the slots of the individual blades are substantially in alignment witheach other, and the clinching means includes a guide rib projecting through the wrapper and blade slots and maintaining the blades in alignment with one another.
5. A razor blade dispensing package. as set forth in claim. 4 further characterized in that said guide rib is integral with said clinching means on one side thereof and. extendsinto a registering slot in the other side of said means. l 1

A razor blade dispensing package as set forth in claim 1 further characterized in that the blades are slotted and stacked so that the slots ofpthe individual blades are substantially inalig'nment with each other, and a guide rib projects through the blade slots formaintaining the blades in alignment with-one another in the, stack; the guide rib having an inclined upper edge portion for facilitating the withdrawal of the blades.

A razor blade dispensing package as set forth in claim 1 further characterized in thatthe blades are slotted and stacked so-that the slots of the individual blades are substantially fin-alignment with each other, and the clinching means includesa guide rib formed onone side thereof and extending through the sheath and slots in said blades to maintain the bladessubstantially in alignment, said guide ,rib including a-channelshaped portionwho'se sides are'struck' from said clinching vmeans and bentover into parallel spaced-apart relation, the upper edges .of said guide rib being bevelled to facilitate blade withdrawal. 4 8.
