UNITED A STATES YPATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE P; TURNER, OF MEADVILLE, MISSOURI.
FOOT-SCRAPER.
SPIE('HFICATION*forming` part of Letters Patent No. 259,734, dated June 20, 1882.
' Application med Api-i1 19,1882. (No model.)
.T o all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE P. TURNER, of
Meadville, in the county of Linn and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foot-Scrapers; and I do hereby declare that thefollowin gis a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference beinghad to theaccompanyingdrawings, wliich form apart of this specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective view. plan view, and tional view.
(Jorresponding,r parts in the several figures are denoted by like letters of reference.
This invention relates to foot-Scrapers; and it consists in certain improvements In the eonstruction of the same, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed ont in the claims.
In the drawings hereto annexed, A A represent apair of 'uprights, connected by a horizontal sole-scrapin g blade, B. The lower ends of' the uprights A have foot-pieces C, with screw-holes for attachment to the loor 5 or they may be united in a single base, if so preferred.
Secured to the upper end of each of the uprights Ais aseriesofsteelsprings, D, curved or coiled inwardly toward each other, as shown, and so constructed and arranged that they shall all terminate nearly in the same horizon- Three such springs may be protably used on each side, as shown in the drawings.
To the ends of the upper springs D, which terminate infront of the others, are attached vertical scraping-blades E, the edges of which are straight, as shown.
To the ends of the middle springs D are attached vertical scraping-blades F, the edges Fig. 2 is a Fig. 3 is a longitudinal secof which are curved or concave, as shown. ,l
To the ends of the loqwer or rear springs D are attached suitably-constructed brushes, G.
The operation ot' my invention will be readily understood. The device being firmly secured in its proper position, the l'oot is drawn over the horizontal sole-scraper B, between the vertical Scrapers and brushes, beginning with the blades E, which remove the dirt from the side and edgeoftheboot and sole. The curved or concave blades F serve to clean the instep, and the brushes G finally clean the boot.
The operation may, if necessary, be repeated, drawing thefoot through the scraper straight or turning it sidewise, as the case may seem to demand.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States; A
1. In afoot-scraper, the combination, with a horizontal scraping-blade, of a series of vertical scraping-blades and brushes, mounted upon springs, substantially as set forth.
2. In a foot-scraper, the combination of a pair of uprights, a horizontal scraping-blade connecting said uprights, a series of curved springs secured to the upper ends of said uprights, and the vertical scrapers and brushes secured to the inner adjoining ends of said springs, as set forth.
3. In a foot-scraper, the combination, with the horizontal scraping-blade, of the vertical Scrapers E F, having straight and concave edges, respectively, and the brushes G, all arranged, mounted upon springs, in nearly the
