This invention relates to heald or heddle devices for use in connection with weaving looms.
One of the main difficulties in known systems for raising the healds of weaving looms is unsatisfactory adjustment of the frame in regard to warp or weft threads or yarns, when forming the shed.
According to the present invention, the aforesaid and other difficulties are overcome by maintaining greatest flexibility, but nevertheless greatest accuracy when forming the shed.
In particular, the invention proposes a heddle device including levers arranged at either end of each heddle and operated by cams to transmit movement to the healds or heddles through guide rods, each of which carries a block which is adjustably connected in a non-rigid manner to the respective heald to which movement is to be transmitted.
In this way, movement is imparted regularly and the device is furthermore constructed for adjusting the height of each heald in regard to the warp yarns.
The invention will be described in further details and with reference to the annexed drawings representing schematically an embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the heddle device.
Fig. 2 is a cross-section taken along line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 represent two different elevational views (front and side views) of the heddle with adjustment and attachment means.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, there is disclosed a pinion I keyed to the drive shaft of the loom, and in engagement with the toothed wheel 2 which is keyed to the secondary shaft 3 of the loom. On shaft 6 is affixed the toothed Wheel 5. Thus, the aforesaid drive shaft of the loom sets in motion a train of gears I-245, gear 4 being attached to shaft 3. Shaft 6 further supports a bevel gear I which meshes with the bevel gear 8 fixed on shaft 9, on which are further fixed cams ID for operating the healds, which are thus driven in accordance with said shaft 9. On every cam I 0 rests a roller I I associated with oscillating lever I2 on shaft I3, each roller I I being always kept in contact with the respective cam [0.
Each of the levers I2 has a forked end in which a roller I4 is accommodated. Roller I4 is arti culated to the end of a coupling I5 having a screwthreaded bore with which the lower end of a guide rod I6 is in engagement. On said rod and a predetermined distance from roller I4 is disposed block It, the position of which being adjustable along rod I5 by means of two rings or collars I! which threadedly engage said rod I6. Block I 8 has a bearing recess with which engages the pivot pin I9 of a counter block 20, which in turn is connected to heald 2| (Fig. 4). By adjusting (by means of rings or collars II) the distance or position of block [8 as hereinabove explained, pivot pin I9 and block 20 with heddle 2I may be moved commensurate with the adjustment of block I8, so that the height of the heddles or healds may be regulated in regard to the weft yarns, thus ensuring a perfect operation of the heddles. On the counter block 20 there is also provided a running pivot pin 22, which during the movement of the heddles, moves in a guide (not shown) provided in the heddles or healds.
When the main drive shaft of the loom is started to move this rotative movement is transmitted through gears I2-4-5 .to shaft 9, the latter carrying the cams II) which thus rotate and cause alternate movement through levers I 2 to rod IS, the latter communicating the upward movement to the heddles or healds 2|.
It can thus be seen that there has been provided, in accordance with this invention, a device for regulating reciprocal movements of heddles, comprising a plurality of cam-controlled levers for moving said heddles, bearing means for said heddles and operatively connected to said levers, respectively, means arranged for adjustment on said bearing means, and respective pivot means associated with said heddles engaging said adjusting means for efiectuating articulation of said heddles to said bearing means in predetermined positions of said adjusting means to thereby provide non-rigid connection between said heddles and said cam-controlled levers.
In view of the above mentioned perfect operation, the greatest ease for adjustment in the heddle movements takes place by means of a very simple and accurate mechanism as herein set forth.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is:
l. A device for regulating reciprocal movements of heddles, comprising a plurality of cam-controlled levers for moving said heddles, rod members operatively connected to said levers, respectively, block elements engaging respective rod members, means adapted to regulate the position of each block element lengthwise of the respective rod member and relatively to the respective heddle, and pivot means extending between the respective rod member and heddle and articulating the latter to said respective block elements to thereby provide non-rigid connection between said heddles and said cam-controlled levers.
2. A device for regulating reciprocal movements of heddles, comprising a plurality of cam-controlled levers for: moving said heddles; rod members articulated to said levers, respectively, block elements engaging respective rod members, each block element being provided with a bearing recess, means adapted to regulate the, position of each block element lengthwise of the' respective rod member and relative to the respective h'eddle, and pivot means extending between said: heddles and said bearing recesses of said blocks, respectively to thereby provide non-rigid connection between said heddles and said cam-controlled levers.
3. A device for regulating reciprocal movements of heddlescomprising a plurality of cam-controlled alevers -for moving said heddles, bearing 'means for said heddles and operatively connected 4 to said levers, respectively, means arranged for adjustment on said bearing means, and respective pivot means associated with said heddles engaging said adjusting means for efiectuating articulation of said heddles to said bearing means in predetermined positions of said adjusting means to thereby provide non-rigid connection between said" heddles and said cam-controlled levers.
