Description

A ril 29, 1952 B. BEHNKE HAMMER POCKET DEVICE Filed Jan. 10 1951 Q INVENTOR Harvey lifiefinfie. BY
HTTOR/VEYS.
Patented Apr. 29, 1952 UNITED STATES. PATENT OFFICE HAMMER POCKET DEVICE Harvey B. Behnke, Appleton, Wis.
Application January 10, 1951, Serial No. 205,394
2 Claims. 1
This invention relates to a hammer pocket device.
It is to be understood that when people place hammers in their pockets the pocket is often torn, or the hammer becomes entangled in the pocket which is very unsatisfactory to the user.
Therefore, one of the objects of this invention is the production of a device which will permit the easy placing of a hammer in the pocket of preferably a carpenter, and allowing the hammer to be quickly removed when desired.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a pocket device for holding a hammer, or hatchet, which device is constructed to fit the curvature of the body of the carpenter, whereby the device is used with no discomfiture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, this invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a, device constructed in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary sectional view of a garment, showing particularly a pocket thereof,
with a device in vertical section therein.
Figure 3 is afragmentary view of a garment, such as an overall, showing one of the pockets thereof in partial section, and the device of this invention in the pocket, as well as a hammer in the device.
Referring to the drawings, in which the preferred embodiment of this invention is illustrated, I designates the flat body of the device which is provided with two integral sides 2 that extend at right angles to the fiat body I. Integral with the body I and sides 2 is a flat bottom 3. The bottom 3 is curved at 4 on its outer edge to fit the body of the usenwhereby the device is very comfortably employed.
In Figure 2 the device is shown in the pocket 5, while in Figure 3, the device is shown with a hammer 6 therein.
In actual use the hammer 6 is slid down against ment as the device holds the tool in a satisfactory position for such movement.
While I have described the preferred embodiment of the invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates during the extensive manufacture of the same, and I, therefore, reserve the right to make such changes or alternations as shall fairly'fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a onepiece hammer pocket device, comprising a flat vertical body provided with two parallel fiat sides, said sides being at right angle to said fiat vertical body, a flat bottom at right angle to said flat vertical body and said parallel flat sides, and said flat bottom being curved inwardly. on its outer edge, whereby said curvature fits the shape of the buttocks of the human body when the device is in use.
2. In combination with the hip pocket of a carpenters overalls; of a hammer-head holding device in said pocket comprising a flat body substantially the width of said pocket and bearing against the outer portion of said pocket, parallel side portions integral with said flat body, said side portions provided with outer vertical edges bearing against the inside pocket, a flat horizontal bottom integral with said side portions and fiat body, and said bottom being curved inwardly on its outer edge to receive a, portion of said pocket and to fit the buttock of thewearer of the overalls.
