1 Claim. (Cl. 222-100) This invention relates to a casing supporting collapsible tube, with means for extruding the tubes contents, and more particularly to such a device adapted. to be disposed upon a wall and from the lower end. of which extends a dispensing opening through which the contents of a collapsible tube may be extruded upon rotating a member for collapsing and rolling the tube.
It isan object of the present invention to provide a simple dispenser for the contents of collapsible tubes which is cheap to manufacture and efficient in operation, having a minimum number of parts, and wherein these parts are of sturdy design and securely connected to one another and adapted to exert heavy pressure upon the tube to cause the extrusion of contents thereof.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a dispenser of the type wherein the tube can be easily and quickly secured within the dispenser by the simple removal of a bottom end of the dispenser and the securing of an end of the tube to a roll which, at the time of making the connection, can be lowered in such manner as to be readily accessible to the person setting up the dispenser.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the dispenser with a portion broken away to show the rolling device connected with the rear end of the tube.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the dispenser with a portion broken away at the bottom of the same to show the connection of the tube to a plate by means of which the tube is supported within the vertically extending container.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the dispenser looking down upon the roller or turning shaft.
Figure 4 is a detail plan view of the side-swung cap for the outlet through which the paste is dispensed.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary side view of one end of the roller or turning shaft and showing the bearing element disposed thereon.
Figure 6 is an enlarged cross-sectional view taken on line 8-6 of Figure 3. looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 7 is a bottom end view of the casing with the outlet plate and ring removed therefrom, and showing the end of the slot at the opposite side of the casing.
Referring now to the figures, It represents a mounting bracket having wings H thereon through which a toothbrush can be extended when not in use. The mounting bracket H] can be connected to a wall and has secured to it a vertically extending cylindrical casing i2 having a top [3. The lower end of the casing is open and has external threads I4 thereon adapted to receive a threaded retaining ring l5 for securing an outlet plate I6 within the bottom opening of the casing. The outlet plate [6 has a depending projection I! through which extends an outlet opening I8 from which paste is extruded. The upper end of the opening within the main body of the plate [6 is threaded so that the plate can be connected to the threaded outlet I9 of a paste tube 2| adapted to be extended upwardly into the cylindrical casing l2. The diametrically opposite sides of the casing have vertically extending slots 22 in which slides a roller or turning shaft 23. This turning shaft has a slot 24 for receiving the closed end 25 of a collapsible tube. When the shaft 23 is dropped down to the bottom ends of the slots 22, the end of the collapsible tube can be readily connected to it. In fact, the shaft 23 is removed from the bottom of the casing and a cap 26 on the outer end of the same is removed so as to provide access to the slot 24 and to permit the closed end of the tube to be slid thereinto. Thereafter, the cap 26 can be threaded upon the shaft and the shaft returned to the slots 22. Also, there is provided a grooved sleeve 21 on the shaft aligned with the edges of the slots at that side of the casing to guide the shaft against axial displacement from the casing. The cap 26 may also have a groove 28 to receive the edges of the opposite slot 22. The shaft 23 will accordingly be guided through the slots by the grooved sleeve 21 and the grooved cap 26. On the shaft 23 is a knurled knob 29 which is used to effect the turning of the shaft to wind up the collapsible tube and to cause the contents to be dispensed therefrom into the opening l8 of the outlet plate "5.
Hinged for lateral swinging movement on the plate It is an arm 3| having a flanged plate 32 on its lower end adapted to slide over the projection I1 and the lower end of the opening I8, whereby to maintain the paste within the opening [8. This is slid laterally when it is desired to dispense paste.
As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having now described our invention, we claim:
A dispenser for the contents of collapsible tubes comprising an elongated casing having a closed end and an open end and two longitudinally extending slots disposed in respectively opposite sides of the casing Wall and extending to the open end of the casing, a mounting bracket secured to said casing, a screw thread formation on said casing at the open end thereof, a.closure .plate disposed in the open end of said casing and having a screw threaded aperture therein for receiving the threaded outlet of a collapsible tube, a retaining ring threaded onto said casing at the open end of the latter and marginally engaging said closure plate to retain the closure plate in the open end of the casing, a bifurcated turning shaft extending through said casing slots for receiving the closed end of a collapsible tube, a circumferentially grooved sleeve secured on one end of said shaft and receiving the edges of the casing wall along one of said slots in the groove thereof, a shaft turning knob on the end of said sleeve remote from said shaft, a screw thread formation on the other end of said shaft, and a circumferentially grooved cap threaded onto said other end of the shaft to secure the shaft furoations in clamping relationship on the closed end of a collapsible tube, said cap receiving the edges of the casing wall along the other of said slots in the groove thereof and said sleeve and said cap restraining said turning shaft against movement transversely of said casing.
