HANGER FOR CLOTHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 255,746, dated March 28, 1882.
Application filed October 24, 188]. (ltIodeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODORE L. WIsWELL, of Olathe, in the county of Johnson and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hangers for Clothes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art to t which it pertains to make and use it, reference being. had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
- My invention relates to an improvement in hangers for clothes; and it consists in a metallic frame which is made in one or more pieces, and which is provided with a hook at its upper end to receive a hat, a horizontal portion which projects equally upon both sides for the purpose of hanging a coat and vest upon, and a hook at its lower end to hang pants or other articles of clothing on, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
The object of my invention is to provide an article for household use which can be fastened against the wall or any other suitable support, and which is especially adapted for hanging up a suit of mens clothes.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention complete. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same.
Arepresents a suitable metallic frame,whieh may be made of any desired number of pieces which have been stamped, cast, or otherwise formed, and then secured together, or in a single casting, as may be preferred. Th is frame a piece of board, 0, which can be hung against the wall or upon any suitable support.
Projecting outward from the upper corner of the frame A is the hook D, upon which the hatis to be hung.
Upon the lower corner of the frame is secured the horizontal arm G, which projects equally beyond the sides of the frame at each end, and upon which is hung the coat, and vest, and which is intended to fit inside of a coat, so as to retain the coat in shape.
Projecting outwardly from the lower support is the horn or hook I, upon which the pants are hung.
The frame A and the arm extending at right angles thereto may be made of anylight ornamental pattern that may be desired, so as to give as light and elegant appearance to the frame as possible.
This rack'is specially intended for the use of gentlemen to hang their clothing upon; but it is evident that other articles can be hung upon it.
Having thus described claim- A hanger for clothes, consisting of the frame A, having the supports B and provided with a hook, I), at its upper end, the arm G, projecting at right angles to the frame, and ahook, I, at the lower end of the frame, as shown and described.
