This invention relates to new and useful improvements in barbers chairs and the primary objector the present invention is to provide an auxiliary seat for barbers chairs so designed as to enable a barber to be seated for convenient movement about a person seated in the chair on which the present auxiliary seat is applied.

Another object of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary seat for barbers chairs including novel and improved means for removably securing the same relative to a barber's chair supporting pedestal for rotary movement about the said pedestal.

A further object of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary seat for a barbers chair and. the like including a novel and improved wheeled supporting frame of an adjustable construction facilitating the same to be selectively raised or lowered for use by barbers of various sizes.

A still further aim of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary seat for barbers chairs that is simple and practical in construction,

strong and reliable in use, small and compact in structure, neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view of a barbers chair, and showing the present invention applied thereto;

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially on the plane of section line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially on the plane of section line 33 of Figure 1;

Figure 4 is an enlarged horizontal sectional View taken substantially on the plane of section line 44 of Figure l; and,

Figure 5 is a fragmentary view partly in section and partly in elevation, taken substantially on the plane of section line 5-5 of Figure 4.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, Wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral I0 represents a conventional barbers chair generally, comprising a stationary supporting pedestal base I2, and in which there is adjustably and rotatably mounted a 2 standard 14 that supports at its upper end a barbers chair l6.

Removably secured by screw fasteners or the like 8 to the outer periphery of the pedestal base' 12, is a pair of

semi-circular guides

20 and 22 that are preferably channel-shaped in crosssection, and which are provided with opposed upper and lower attaching

ears

24 and 26 at their end portions which are connected by screw fasteners or the like 28, for retaining the

guides

20 and 22 relative to each other and whereby the guides may be applied to supporting bases of various sizes.

Slidably mounted for rotary movement in the guides 29 and 22, is a pair of semi-annular rings 35 and 32, the central portions of which are provided with internally threaded apertures 34 that receivably engage fasteners 36 pivotally carried by eye members 38 that are provided at the free ends of a supporting yoke 40. This yoke 40 is provided with an integral socket or channeled guide 42 at its central portion, that supports an adjustable fastener M. Slidably mounted in the socket 42 is one end of a substantially horizontal connecting arm 565 having a longitudinal slot 48 that engages the fastener 44, for selective adjustment of the connecting arm within the socket 42.

The numeral 50 represents a substantially vertically disposed support arm or frame, which is secured by fasteners 01' the like 52 to the angulated depending outer end 54 of the connecting arm l-G. Removably secured by fasteners 56 to the lower end 58 of the support arm 5|], is the enlarged central portion 60 of an arcuate, substantially horizontal lower support arm 62 supporting journal bearings 84 at each of its ends that rotatably support casters or the like 66.

Slidably and adjustably mounted in the vertical slot 68 provided in the upper end 10 of the vertical support 60, is a group of fasteners 12 that are carried by the channeled leg 14 of an angular support 176. One leg of the support 16 is fixedly secured to the lower face of a suitable cushion seat 78 of preferably leather material.

20 and 22 on the base l2, so that a selective positioning of the seat 18 relative to the chair l6 may be maintained. Obviously, the seat 78 may be adjusted vertically by the adjustment of the fasteners 12, and the seat may also be adjusted inwardly or outwardly relative to the chair It by adjusting the fasteners 44.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and measured by the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention what is claimed as new is:

1. In a barbers chair including a fixed pedestal base and a rotatable chair carried by said base, an auxiliary seat comprising, an annular channel guide removably secured to the base, a ring rotatably carried by said guide, a support yoke having its ends pivoted to diametrically opposite sides of said ring, a frame supporting a seat at one end, means adjustably connecting said frame to said support yoke, and wheel means carried by said frame.

2. The combination of claim 1 wherein said support yoke includes a socket portion, and said means adjustably securing said support frame relative to said support yoke includes a connecting arm rigidly carried by said frame and slidably received in said socket.

3, In a barbers chair including a fixed pedestal base and a rotatable chair support carried by the base; an auxiliary seat comprising an annular channel-shaped guide embracing and detachably secured to the base, a pair of semi-circular members received in said guide for rotation and having abutting end portions, a yoke embracing said semi-circular members and having its ends pivoted to the central portions of said semi-circular members, a channeled guide forming a part of said yoke and disposed radially of said yoke and said semi-circular members, a fastener carried by said channeled guide, a wheeled substantially vertical frame having a laterally projecting connecting arm, said arm being received in said channeled guide, and a slot provided in said arm receiving the fastener.
