ATTU RN EYE Patented May 1, 1 951 COMBINATION SPECTACLE CASE AND ASH TRAY SUPPORT FOR BARBERS CHAIRS Wiley Thurman Lamb, Leesburg, Fla.; Susie E. Lamb administratrix of said Wiley Thurman Lamb, deceased Application May 7, 1946, Serial No. 667,926
1 Claim.
This invention relates to a combination spectacle case, and ash tray support, that is particularly designed to be used for barber chairs, hospital beds, or may be conveniently used at home, in hotels or any place where it is desired to use a support that will hold an ash tray and spectacles in a convenient location to the user thereof.
An object of this invention is toprovide a device of this character that is simple in construction, can. be easily attached to or detached from a bed, chair or other articles of furniture, is durable in use and can be inexpensively manufactured.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement'and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure l is a top plan view of an embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a sectional view on theline 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is an end view thereof, and
Figure 4'is a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, the reference numeral Ill designates the base plate of the device which is detachably connected by a fastener l2 to the L-shaped bracket l4 secured to the under-surface of the left arm l6 of a barber chair or the like, by means of the screw I8, and the elongated slot in the bracket l4 permits adjustment of the bracket with rel-ation to the arm [6. Adjacent one end of the base plate 10, a circular formation of upstruck springyarms 22 is provided and the arms are curved and assume the shape of a sector of a circle. These arms, by reason of their formation, will retain an ash tray therein, and being adjacent the arm I6 of the chair, can be easily used by the occupant thereof.
The base plate It is provided with outwardly extending portions 24 and 26, and portion 24 bent in a curved formation along the line 28 forms the front wall of a case 30 and portion 26 bent at right angles along the line 32 forms the rear wall of the case and the side or end Walls 34 are secured to the marginal edges of the portions and the base, by Welding, soldering or any other suitable method.
for the opening and closing thereof, and the depending marginal end flanges 42 which frictionally engage the end Walls 34 to retain the lid 38 in closed position.
Thus an ash tray support and spectacle case A has been provided that can be mounted in easy reach of an occupant of a bed or chair, and will protect the spectacles when not in use, and provide means for holding an ash tray for the convenient disposal of ashes and butts.
It is believed that the operation, construction and manner of use of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and it is to be understood that changes in the minor details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to, provided they fall within the spirit of my invention and the scope of the appended claim. 7
Havin thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a frame having an extended base plate, an ash tray support formed on said base plate, said support comprising a circular formation of upwardly curved sector shaped springy arms which are formed integral with the base plate and are adapted to engage an ash tray, and means connected to said frame for adjustably supporting said frame on the arm of a barbers chair.
