Description

(No Model.) JQY. SAILOR.
FOLDING GRADLB. No. 2545241. Y YPatented Feb. 28,1882.
- UNITED I STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN Y. SAILOR, OF TIFFIN, OHIO.
r FOLDING CRADLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of -Letters Patent No. 254,241, dated February 28, 1882. Applicationa1edseptember17,1ss1. (Nomade.)
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN Y. SAILOR, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Tiffin, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented a new Folding Cradle, of which the followingis a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in folding` cradles; and the objects of inyimprovements are, rst, by folding when not in use to take up less space than any others known to me; second,'t0 place the cradle in a compact form, making it very convenient for shipping and storing. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in' the vaccompanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view of my cradle. Fig. 2 is the end elevation ofthe cradle closed. Fig. 3 is a side view of the center under round ofthe cradle. Fig. 4 is one of' the legs with its pivotal portion detached. Fig. 5 isthepivotal end of the leg shown at Fig. 4t. Fig. 6 is a view of the several buttons.
Similar letters referto similar pal ts throughout the several views.
The lock-boards A keep the several paris in position when open or closed. The arms b b b b b b b b work on the same with screws, and the slots F constitute the lock. The braces c c c c equalize the weightbetween the top and bottom rounds, also brace them. The rails J, rounds G, and spindles H constitute the sides.
They buttons s s s s secure the arms b b b b b b b b tothe rounds G G G G, and other similar buttons, s form the head on each end of bottom center round, Gx, Fig. 3, which works in the slots F. The legs d d au d d :v cross` at the slots F, and are there secured together bycenter under round, G Fig. 3, and buttons s x. The lower part of the right leg, dx, turns on a pivot (fully illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5) and throws the rocker e under the cradle.
Referring to Figs. 4 and 5, m isthe pivot, and when adjusted into mortise L the groove n revolves around the peg p, which holds the same in place. Y
I am aware that prior to my invention folding cradles have been made; but I am not aware that any cradles were made with the folding combination as I herein set forth.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combination ot' loclvboards A, having slots F, cross-legs d d d. d' m, center under round, Gr x, and buttons s x, all substantially as and .for thepurpose shown and described.
JOHN Y. sAILoR.
