4 Claims.
The invention relates to washfountains.
The object of the invention is to provide a Washfountain in which the usual heavy metal pedestals are eliminated and at the same time the plumbing fixtures for the fountain are effectively concealed by a pair of sheet metal housing members which are associated with the supports for the basin of the fountain.
The invention further consists in the several features hereinafter described and more particularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.
Referring to the drawings,
Fig. 1 is a front elevation view of a washfountain embodying the invention, parts being broken away;
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a detailed horizontal sectional view taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1;
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates a washbasin provided with a drain opening with which the drain fitting 6 and the drain pipe 1 connect, the pipe I being shown as going through the wall 8 though in some instances it may go through the floor 9.
A sprayhead I is mounted on the basin to direct washing sprays into the basin bowl and is supplied with tempered water from a supply pipe ll, passage of water through which is controlled by a foot controlled valve 12. A pipe l3 connects the valve l2 with a mixing valve M which in turn connects with a hot water supply pipe l and a cold water supply pipe 16, which pipes are shown as extending into the wall 8, but in some instances they may extend into the floor of the room or building in which the washfountain is installed.
The valve 12 has its operating member ll moved to off position by a spring [8 and is moved to open position by a foot controlled treadle l9 engaging said member and pivotally mounted intermediate its ends on a fitting 20 anchored or attached to the floor 9. l
The basin 5 is preferably connected at its back to the wall 8 by screws 2! and is supported from the floor by a pair of tubular metal members or uprights 22 whose ends are flattened and apertured to receive bolts 0r screws. The lower ends of said members are secured to the floor by screws 23, and the upper ends are secured by bolts 24 to angled brackets 25 welded onto the bottom of the basin. The members 22 are also secured together in spaced relation by a sheet metal bar 25 connected thereto by screws 21, said bar being apertured at 28 to receive a part of the housing of the mixing control valve M which is associated with a volume control and shut off valve 29.
A pair of sheet metal housing plates 30 and 3| are mounted between the basin and the fioor to conceal the piping fixtures of the fountain, said plates overlapping each other and being readily removable in case access to the valves or piping is necessary.
The lower housing plate 38 is of generally semicircular form and is provided-with spaced spring metal clips 32 to engage the basin supporting uprights or members 22.
The upper housing plate 3| is a generally semicircular form below the basin but has side extensions 33 which extend up between the back of the basin and the wall 8. The lower edge 34 of the plate 3i overlaps the upper edge of the plate 30, and said plate 3! is held in operative position by spring clips 35 engaging the uprights 22.
The stem 36 of the mixing valve l4 extends through a rubber cushioned opening 31 in the plate 3!, it being necessary, of course, to remove the operating handle 38 of said valve H1 in case it is necessary to remove the plate 31.
With the above construction the plates 30 and 3| may be quickly removed in case it is necessary to repair the plumbing fixtures of the fountain.
We desire it to be understood that this invention is not to be limited to any particular form or-arrangement of parts except in so far as such limitations are included in the claims.
What we claim as our invention is:
1. In a washfountain having a basin, spaced uprights supporting the basin from the floor and sprayhead and drain connections for said fountain, the combination of a pair of substantially semi-circular housing plates for said connections between said basin and the floor arranged in overlapping relation, and means for detachably connecting said plates with said uprights said plates being bodily removable from the front of the fountain from said uprights.
2. In a washfountain having a basin, spaced uprights supporting the basin from the floor and sprayhead and drain connections for said fountain, the combination of a pair of substantially semi-circular housing plates for said connections between the basin and the floor arranged in overlapping relation, and spring clips mounted on said plates and engageable with said uprights and permitting removal of said plates from the front of the fountain.
3. In a washfountain having a basin Whose bowl is spaced from an adjacent wall, spaced uprights supporting the basin from the floor.- and sprayhead and drain connections for said'fountain, the combination of a pair of overlapping substantially semi-circular housing plates 'for said connections, one of said plates extending upwardly between said bowl and the Wall and spaced from said wall, and means for detachably connecting said plates with said uprights for bodily removal from the front of said fountain.
4. In a washfountain having a basin, spaced uprights supporting the basin from the floor, and spray head and drain connections for said fountain, the combination of substantially semicircular covering means for said connections extending between said basin and the floor, and means for detachably connecting said covering REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the me of this patent:
