A still further object of the invention is to provide a novel receptacle for the date reminder tabs having a transparent cover which permits the tabs to be viewed without opening the cover.

These'tabs are made of'plastic material, the upper portion offea'ch being left inaglazed con- .ditionbuttheremainder of thetab-has been lightly sand blasted to permit writing thereon and erasure of such writing when desired. While I have shown a tab of this construction, tabs of wood, metal or stifi paper may be used. The

bottom portion of each tab has been laterally cut away along an irregular or substantially Z-shaped line 1. The cut-away portion 8 of each tab is then mounted in the bottom of the slot 4 as shown in Fig. 4. Thus it will be readily seen that when the tab is in a position with the complementary surfaces in coinciding relation, the bottom edge of the tab will fit or interengage with the complementary top edge of the cut-away portion 8 as is seen in the tab at the left of Fig. 4, but when the tab is turned or rotated through 180 from the previously mentioned position, the angular surface or shoulder 9 will then rest upon the ledge IQ of the cut-away portion 8 to elevate the tab as shown in the second tab in Fig. 4, and as appears in the second and sixth tabs in Fig. 3.

On the face of the tab is written memorandum concerning events to be remembered, such for instance as anniversaries; due dates for insurance premiums and the like. Above the writing and near the top is written the day of the month as appearing in the tabs shown in Figs. and 6. When the tab is in elevated position, as illustrated by the tab at the right of Fig. 4, the date of the month will be visible above the other tabs.

Non-recurring dates, such as the option date for a business transaction or a football game or the like, may also be placed on the tabs. When the non-recurring dates have been observed and the obligation fulfilled, the memorandum may be erased, the tab reversed and lowered to its recessed position. If the date is a recurring one, the memorandum will not be erased, but the tab is reversed after the date has passed and is lowered into recessed position so that the date is no longer visible. The dates will thereupon remain invisible until the first of the year or prior to the dates of the events to be observed, when the tabs are reversed and again elevated and made visible. For the more important dates, a different colored or a red tipped tab is preferably provided. I have found generally in practice that about one-third of the tabs should be red tipped, although a lesser or greater number may be so colored, as desired.

Having thus disclosed my invention, I claim:

1. A visible date reminder comprising a receptacle having a plurality of vertical slots arranged longitudinally in rows corresponding to the months of the year and transversely in rows corresponding to a plurality of days of each month, each of said slotshaving bevelled upwardly and outwardly extending edges defining the opening thereto to facilitate entry, a plurality of elongated but narrow tabs each adapted to be received in a slot and vertically movable, an insert at the lower end of each slot provided with vertically spaced and horizontally arranged shoulders and the lower end of each tab provided with complementary vertically spaced and horizontally arranged shoulders adapted in one position to coincide and positioning the tab in a lowered position and when reversed, positioning and maintaining the tab in an elevated position.

A visible date reminder comprising a receptacle, a series of vertical recesses in said container arranged in longitudinal and transverse rows, a plurality of relatively narrow but elongated tabs for insertion in said recesses with each tab having a glazed surface near the top 4 thereof, the rest of the body of each tab below the glazed surface being provided with a writing surface thereon, the lower portion of each slot in the base of the receptacle being contoured to provide vertically spaced and horizontally arranged shoulders for receiving and maintaining a tab at different elevations, the lower edge of each tab contoured to provide shoulders conforming to the shoulders in the base of the receptacle whereby each tab may in one position have the shoulders coincide and thus the tab will bein a lowered position, and when the tab is turned to expose its opposite side it will be mounted in an elevated position, and a number of said tabs being colored adjacent their upper ends to'distinguish said tabs from those which are uncolored. 7

3. A visible date reminder comprising a receptacle having a plurality of longitudinally and transversely spaced narrow and deep slots opening upwardly and representing each month of the year and a plurality of days of each month, a removable tab conforming to and inserted into each slot and adapted to contain the date of the month and information concerning a coming event such as an obligation, engagement, anniversary or thelike concerning which the user is to be reminded, and vertically stepped and horizontally arranged surfaces on the end of each tab and complementary surfaces in each slot for positioning each tab in either a lowered position in which the information is not exposed, or in an elevated position in which the information is exposed to remind the user of the coming event.

A visible date reminder comprising a receptaclehaving a plurality of longitudinally and laterally spaced slots each opening upwardly to receive a tab, a plurality of tabs adapted to be received in said slots with each tab provided with a writing surface adapted to contain de sired information on one side thereof, means for holding and maintaining each tab in elevated position with the upper edge extending substantially above the receptacle to expose the written matter for reminding the user of an obligation on a specified date, and for retaining each tab in a lowered position and in which the information is hidden when the obligation has been fulfilled, said means including stepped horizontal edges at the base of each tab and complementary surfaces in the base of the receptacle for maintaining the tabs in elevated or lowered position, and a transparent cover for said receptacle permitting the user to View the exposed tabs from the exterior.
