The object of this invention is to provide a drinking spout adapted to be held against a faucet or water outlet for the purpose of directing the flow of water away from the outlet in an upwardly and outwardly curved stream from which one may drink the water.
The invention is embodied in a drinking spout device adapted to be held underneath and against a water outlet, from a pipe for example, or against a water faucet, so as to interrupt'the flow of water and direct it into and along a curved spout portion of the device to produce an upwardly curved stream of water for drinking purposes. The device includes a stop for placing it in the proper position on the water outlet, and a handle for manipulating the device and holding it while the drinking takes place. The person who wishes to drink operates the device which preferably is made in one integral body from a suitable clear or transparent plastic for purposes of sanitation and appearance.
The use of the device makes it unnecessary to use paper drinking cups or the like and saves the expenses of such cups and their containers. The device is inexpensive to make and serves its purpose of providing a freely flowing stream of water from which one may drink without the lips touching the water outlet or pipe, or any part of the spout device. In the accompanying drawmg Fig. 1 is a top view of the device.

Fig. 4 is a view illustrating the use of the device.
The drinking spout according to this invention is preferably molded in one piece of a suitable clear plastic material. The device is formed with a cupped base 5, an upwardly curved spout 5 arising from the base and a handle I. The latter may have a hole 8 so that the device can be hung up near the water outlet.
Opposite the spout the base has an upstanding stop 9 adapted to be inserted inside, or placed against the outside, of the water outlet III as shown in Fig. 4 and whereby the device is automatically placed in the proper horizontal position. Vertically the device is held against the lower edge or mouth of the water outlet by means of lugs II, II one on each side of the stop 9, the lugs abutting the lower edge of the outlet.
In use, the person wanting a drink of water,
places the device upwardly against the water outlet as shown with the stop lug 9 preferably inside the outlet. The stop 9 and the lugs ll enables the person to hold the device firmly while the water is being turned on and while drinking. The water from the outlet strikes against the base 5 and then necessarily is forced out through the spout to form a stream of water. The spout has a curved bottom groove [5 and spout forming sides [6. The arrow 20 in Fig. 4 indicates the formation of the stream of water issuing from the spout and the person then drinks from the stream.
The device is sanitary, inexpensive to make and forms a convenient accessory for drinking purposes in all places where separate drinking cups are not provided. The device may be carried about for use whenever desired.
I claim:
A portable unitarily molded spout drinking device of the character described comprising a substantially straight channel spout member to utilize the liquid flow of water from an outlet in one direction and direct the same therefrom upwardly and outwardly as a drinking fountain, the lower end of said spout member terminating in and merging with a flat base forming an obtuse angle with the spout member, said base having an integral stop projecting upwardly from the edge of the base opposite the said spout member, said base forming stops on both sides of said upwardly projecting stop and a handle integral with said device extending from said base to one side of the device at a right angle, said base being held by said handle at the mouth of the water outlet for directing the flow of water into the spout member, said stops engaging the inside and bottom of said outlet in operative relation therewith.
