This invention relates .to` `a novel `means for blousing or bulging the bottoms of trouser legs, as practiced, for examplefby parachute troops.

As now practiced, the loweredges of the trouser legs are stuffed into the `topsof the wearers boots or relatively high shoes.` Such procedure not only `tends to impair the,` normalcirculation of blood in the wearers legs', but also produces an irregular and unsightly appearance among troops, due to the fact that the trouser bottoms will be stuffed into the shoes in varying degrees according to the whim of the wearer as Well as acu cording to the amountl of space available between the boot top and leg of the wearer.

It is an object of the present invention therefore to provide a means for blousing trouser leg bottoms which avoids the necessity of inserting them in the boot tops, thereby eliminating the defects just mentioned, namely, interference with the circulatory system of the wearer and the unsightly appearance of irregular or non-uniform blousing.

Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a rather simple and inexpensive tying means comprising a strap for binding the trouser bottoms about the wearers legs at a point just above the boot tops and detachably anchoring the straps to the boot tops.

A still further object of the invention consists in the use of snap fasteners arranged so that they can only be opened by a downward pull, thereby eliminating the possibility of accidental release thereof by the scraping of the wearers leg against something hard, such as a chair or the like.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which,

Paratroopers and others for which the present device is intended, wear boots or shoes provided with relatively high uppers, and such shoes are indicated in Figures 1 and 2 by the numeral l. These shoes are provided with backstays 2 and at a point adjacent the upper end of the stays, one portion of a snap fastener is riveted or otherwise secured. The means for tying the bottom of the trouser to the leg of the wearer at a point slightly above the top of the boot, comprises an elongated strap 4, provided with a conventional buckle 5 at `one end and apertures 6 at the other end for cooperation with the buckle. Adjacent the buckle portion of the strap, a depending strap 'l is secured, as indicated by the numeral 8, This depending strap is provided with a snap fastener 9 for cooperation with the fastener 3 mounted adjacent the top of the backstay 2.

The snap fastener 9 is of the type provided with a central opening for the reception. of the complementary fastener 3, which is provided with a groove 3 (see Figure 2) spaced slightly below the outer end thereof. Within the fastener 9 is a wire loop Ill eccentrically arranged, with respect to the central opening so as to permit the separation of the fastener in only one direction, namely, by the application of a pulling force at the point where the wire loop is unexposed. Fasteners of this general type are well illustrated by the patent to Carr, No. 1,237,469 granted on August 2l, 1917. This snap fastener 9 is :applied to the depending strap portion 'l with the eX- posed wire portion adjacent the lower end of the strap, so that to remove the strap 'l from the boot, it is necessary that a downward pull be applied thereto. B v this arrangement, it will be apparent that a pull on the lower end of the strap 1, such as might be caused by the wearers scraping his leg against a board or other hard object would not disengage the fastener from its complementary element 3,

In applying this device, the snap fastener 9 be attached to its complementary element 3 either before or after the strap l is placed about the lower portion of the trouser leg. It will be understood, of course, that the lower portion of the trouser leg is first positioned at about the boot top and the strap i! drawn about the same and secured by the buckle 5, as indicated in Figure 1 After the snap fastener 9 is applied to the element 3, the trouser leg is bloused by providing an annular loop in the lower portion thereof, as indicated in dotted outline in Figure 2.

The device of the present invention as set forth above, and as illustrated in the drawings, is of inexpensive construction and is easily applied to the wearers shoe, and just as easily attached to the trouser leg so as to permit blousing of the lower portion of the trouser. Moreover, the construction and arrangement are such as to permit uniformity in the blousing of the trousers and yet eliminate the objectional feature of stufng the trouser legs in the top of the boots, which, as mentioned above, has the disadvantage of impairing, if not entirely cutting o the circulation of blood in that portion of the wearers leg.

The invention disclosed herein has several advantages over that disclosed in my copending application Serial No. 51,004, filed September 24, 1948, among which is the fact that it is not necessary to dispose the snap fastener beneath the trouser leg for the purpose of avoiding accidental disengagement of the device.

I claim:

1. A blousing device for trousers comprising, a strap for encircling a trouser leg at a point adjacent the Wearers boot top, a second strap depending from the first-mentioned strap, and a wire-type socket fastener secured to the depending strap.

2. A blousing device for trousers comprising, a strap for encircling a trouser leg at a point adjacent the wearers boot top, a second strap depending from the first-mentioned strap, and a wire-type socket fastener secured to the depending strap, the wire in the socket being eccentrically arranged with respect to the socket opening.

3. A blousing device for trousers comprising, a strap for encircling a trouser leg at a point adjacent the wearers boot top, a second strap depending from the first-mentioned strap, and a wire-type socket fastener secured to the depending strap, the wire in the socket being eccentrically offset toward the first-mentioned strap.

4. In combination, a blousing device for trousers comprising, a strap for encircling a trouser leg at a point adjacent the wearers boot top, a second strap depending from the first-mentioned strap, a wire-type socket fastener secured to the depending strap, the wire in the socket being eccentrically oiset toward the first-mentioned strap, a boot, and a complementary fastener on the boot top, whereby the fastener on the depending strap can be released from its complementary fastener only by a downward pull on the depending strap.
