Description

m o e P. FL'CKl STRAP HOLDER.
No. 252,092. Patented Jan. 10,1882.
5%; CMU/5.
ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER ELoK, 0E. CLEVELAND, oHro.
STRAP-Houtman.V
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 252,092, dated January 10, 1882.
' Application tiled November 25,1881. (No model.) 'l
To all whom Vit may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER FLticK, of Cleveland, in the county ofGuyahoga and State ot' Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Strap-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invent-ion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to strap-holders; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the saine, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and claimed. C
In the drawings, Figure l represents a tracefastener embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section taken through the same. Fig. 3 is an isometric view of a double holder embodying my! invention, such as I intend to use to, secure the ends of straps.
A is a metal frame, which is provided at one end with two lugs, a and a', extending in Ward al'nd so constructed as to forma wedgeshaped recess on the inner sides of said frame A. Nearl the other end I form twoinclined elongated slots, D and b', into which slide two pivots, A4c c', extending from the sides of a second piece of metal,B,which slides inthe frame A. The loose en-d of theJ piece B is adapted to slide under the lugs'afand a on the end ofthe frame A. The piece B I provide with crossbars d andfd, which are so formed as to extend slightly below the under side of the same and in such a manner as to grasp the-upper side of the strap Gand prevent it from slipping. (See Fig. 2.) lh'e frame A is also provided with crossbars e and e', which are also so constructed as to grasp the `under side ofr the strap G.
The peration of my device is as follows: The piece Bis pushed back from under the lugs a. and a^and raised, as shown in Fig. 1, and the end of the strap"C inserted between the sides of the frame A and under the lugs a and a. The piece B is, now brought down upon the end of the strap Gand pushed forward until its end is tightly wedged under the lugs a and a. It will be seen that as the piece B is pushed forward it is caused to hug the strap closely by means of the incline of the lugs a and a', and alsofthe slots b and b', and
that the more the strap is pulled the tighter will be the grasp.
Where straps have become broken, or where it is desired to unite the ends of straps, [provide a double holder, as shown in Fig. 3.
My device is alsoadapted to take the place ot' a. buckle in all its various uses, and, as shown in Fig. 1, may be employed to attach theeye t0 the tug of a harness, which will allow ofthe tug being shortened when desired.
In a strap-holder, the combination, with the frame A, provided with the crosspieces e e,
inclined lugs a af, and slots b, ot a sliding piece,
B, having lugs e, adapted to the slots b, and constructed substantially as described, so that its free end will be secured upon a strap under the lugs a af, substantially as set forth.
. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses,
PETER FLOK.
Witnesses:
