When desired, the cushion or pad 4 may be constructed of an absorbent material and may be saturated with or have a massaging cream or a cosmetic applied thereto so that when the massaging rollers 5 roll over the cushion 4, they will pick up a quantity of the massaging material and distribute the same over the area which is being massaged by causingthe rollers to .be moved back and forth over the area with 4the reciprocating movement of the device by means of the handle I.

Referring to Figures 3, 4, and 5, a modified form of massaging apparatus is illustrated. The modified massaging device comprises a handle IIJ having rigidly secured on one end thereof an applicator guide head I I in the form of an elongated trough or container formed With'a chamber I2 having a plurality of outlet apertures I3 pro-v vided therein at spaced intervals. The feed apertures I3 may beiof any. selected size, depending upon .the kind of cosmetic to. beused. One end of the chambered guide head, II is rigidly secured 4to the handle I0 topermit movement of the guide head over an, area'to be massaged.

The side Walls of the applicator guide head I I are grooved or bent inwardlyto provide guide slots or groovesfor the slidable reception of the longitudinal edges of Va cover plate I4. One end of the cover plate I4 is curled to provide a handle I5 to permit slidable operation of the cover plate. The top surface of the inner end of the cover plate III is provided with alatching recess or notch I6 located to removably receive the end of a spring latch I'I formed on the supported end of the guide headV at the top of the end Wall thereof to lockingly snap into the recess or` notch I6 when the cover plate is-moved into closedposition to close the chamber I2 of the applicator guide head.

- The chamber I2 `of the applicator head II is adapted to carry a supply pof beauty cream I8 or other cosmetic whichis permitted to gradually b e fed out through the apertures I3 Vto be picked up and distributed bymeans of a plurality of massaging rollers I9 which are positioned toroll over the bottom apertured surface of the applicator head II. Each of the rollers is rotatably supported on an open loop bracket 29 with the ends of the bracket projecting inwardly toward o iieY another andserving asa support for a roller. 'lfyherroller carrying bracketsfZ are slidablyenf. gaged over the massaginghead VI.I and the cover plate I4 thereof vand have the top portions disposed vtransversely of a connecting plate or bar 2 I"having gripping ngers or lugs 22 struck upwardly therefrom and bent or hooked over the" top members of the brackets 20. The brackets 2U are thus'held in spaced relationwith respect to' one another andare permitted to hang and have a swinging movement. The connecting plate 2|, the brackets 20 and the rollersV I9 are connected to form a' massaging carriage which is adapted to travel back'and forth on the applicator head when themassaging device is in operation and is moved back and forth over an area to be massaged. The-massaging end of the device is,ofcourse, adaptedto be operatediby means of the handle I0so that the rollers may be lightly `appliedto amassaging surface or said rollers may have pressure exerted thereon for more strenuous application-of the rollersV when necessary. j g.

vIt Will thus be seen thatanV improved massaging device, of the manuallyoperabletype, -is provided v carried by the traveling carriage.

.Attention is called to the fact that in the two forms of massaging devices disclosed that a cosmetic in the form of a cream or the like may be picked up and distributed by the massaging rollers when a cosmetic is carried on the cushion or padV 4 or in the supply chamber I2 of the applicator guide head II.

It will, of course, be understood that various details of construction may be varied through a Wide range Without departing from the principles of this invention and it'is, therefore, not the purpose to limit the patent granted hereon other- Wise than necessitated by the-scope of the appended claims.-

I claim as my invention:

l. A'massaging device comprising a handle, a rigid applicator guidehead secured thereto and operable thereby, andaplurality of freely rotatable massaging elements mounted to travel in grouped relationship back and forth on the guide head when the saine is'caused to travel over an area tc be massaged. i

2. Amassaging devicecomprising a handle, an applicator guide head secured thereto and operable thereby, a carrier mounted to travel over the exterior of the guide head when the same is moved I over an' area to be massaged, and a massaging element rotatably supported on' the carrier and adapted to rotate and vswing by .contact With the guide head and saidV area to massage the area when the guide head is actuated by means of the handle. i

3. AAs an article .of manufacture a massaging device comprising arigid applicator guide head, a handle for operating' the same, va plurality. of frame members surroundingthe guide head and mounted to travel on the guide head, massaging elements rotatably lcarried by. the frame members and adapted to swing and ibe rotated by contact with the guide head and an area .to be massaged whenthe guide head is .actuated by means of the handle, and a connector on said guide head connecting the frame members vto hold the massaging elements in spacedv operating relationship.

4. A massaging device .comprising a handle, a guide head secured `thereto and operable thereby, a cosmetic carrying means on the guide head, a plurality of frame members surrounding and loosely engaged to travel on the guide head, means slidable on the guide head for holding the frame members in spaced relationship, and massaging elements rotatably carried by the frame members and rotatable over an area to be massaged and over the cosmetic carrying means When the guide head is operated by the handle, said massaging elements when rotated acting to feed a cosmetic. from the cosmetic carrying means to the area be.

massaged, a plurality of frame members loosely surrounding the guide head andadapted to travel another, a cosmetic holder forming a part of the guide head, and massaging elements rotatably carried on the frame members and movable over the cosmetic holder and over the area to be massaged to feed the cosmetic to said area when the massaging device is operated over the area.

6. A massaging device comprising a rigid guide head, means for operating the same over an area to be massaged, a carriage slidably mounted to travel on top of the guide head, and massaging elements rotatably and swingingly supported on the carriage and rotatable between the guide head and said area when the device is moved over the area.

7. A massaging device comprising a cosmetic carrying vguide head, means for operating the same over an area to be massaged, a member slidably mounted on the guide head, a plurality of hangers pivotally carried by said member and surrounding the guide head, and massaging rollers rotatably supported on said hangers and adapted to feed the cosmetic to the area while massaging the same when the device is operated over the area.

8. A massaging device comprising a guide head, means for operating the same back and forth over an area to be massaged, a member mounted to freely travel on the guide head when the same is in operation, and a plurality of massaging elements pivotally and rotatably carried by said member and rotatable between the guide head and said area to massage the area when the device is operated.

9. A massaging device comprising a rigid guide head, means for operating the same over an area to be massaged, a member longitudinally and transversely movable on the guide head, hangers pivotably and slidably supported on said member and surrounding the guide head, and massaging rollers rotatably carried by said hangers.
