UNITED STATES AT NT OFFICE 1 Claim. 1
My invention relates to a leak proof perfume dispenser.
Among the objects of my invention is to provide a dispenser that will not leak; that has an improved seal and an easily operated valve construction; that is easily refilled; that will not clog or become inoperative; that has a dome shaped closure for reinsurance against evaporization.
My invention also contemplates such other objects, advantages, and .capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.
While I have shown in the accompanying drawings, a preferred form of my invention, yet I wish it understood that the same is susceptible of modi- Iication and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of my device; Fig. 2 is a top plan View; Fig. 8 is a disassembled view of the aligned parts and Fig. 4 is a reduced perspective view of my device in use. Y
The embodiment selected to illustrate my invention comprises a container Ill, having a hollow interior II and an open top I2. A collar I3 has a lower body portion I4 extending within the hollow interior II and attached to container I adjacent the open top I2, with ange I5 resting on said top I2. Said collar has an upper portion I6 extending above said top I2 with interior screw threads II and exterior screw threads I8.
A valve housing I9 has a vertical bore 20 therethrough, a knurled top portion 2l, and integral therewith a body portion 22 with screw threads 23 and a reduced lower portion '24.
Valve housing I9 is adapted to extend through collar I3 with its screw threads 23 engaging interior screw threads I1 of collar I3.
A valve plunger 25 has a stem 26 with a valve head 21 and a reduced shank 28 therebelow, receiving a coiled spring 29. The valve plunger 25 and spring 29 are positioned within opening 20 of valve housing I9 with stem 26 extending thereabove, the upper end of stem 26 being attached to cap 30. The lower end of valve housing I9 is crimped inwardly to hold spring 29 from falling out after it has been inserted into position.
In operation when cap l3f! is pressed downwardly, valve head 21 which normally is held by spring 29 against the walls surrounding a narrow portion of bore 20 for a seal, is moved downwardly into a slightly larger portion of bore 20 so that an opening is provided for the passage therebeyond of uid in container I0.
A dome shaped closure 3l having screw threads 32 engages exterior threads I8 of collar I3 for closing the container.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
A perfume dispenser comprising a cylindrical container with a hollow interior adapted to hold perfume, and an open top, a collar attached to said container within its hollow interior and having an extension extending beyond the open top of the container, the diameter of said collar being smaller than the diameter of said container, said collar having interior screw threads and on its extension outer screw threads, a valve housing having a vertical bore with an enlarged lower portion, said valve housing having a top, a screw threaded body portion and a reduced lower portion, a valve plunger having a stem, a wedge shaped head, and a reduced shank, a coil spring mounted on said shank, said valve plunger and said spring positioned within said valve housing, with the stem extending above the top of the housing, a cap attached to the top of the stem of said plunger and slidably mounted in the bore of the valve housing, said valve housing removably attached to said collar, with the screw threaded body portion of said valve housing engaging the inner screw threads of said collar and the top of the valve housing engaging the top of the extension of the collar, so that the body portion and reduced lower portion of said valve housing are positioned within the perfume dispenser, and the top portion of said valve housing and the cap and upper portion of the stem are the only parts of the valve plunger and valve housing exposed above the top of the extension of the collar, said valve head normally held by said spring against the walls of said valve housing, said stern smaller than and slidable within said bore and adapted upon downward manual pressure on said cap to move said Valve head to said enlarged portion of said bore and away from said walls thereby providing an opening to permit perfume from said container to pass through said bore to be dispensed, and a screw threaded dome shaped closure adapted to removably engage the outer screw threads of said collar.
