-'My present invention relates to the general class of baths and closets of the cabinet type-,and more specifically to an improved shower bath cabinet with rotary closure means, which while well adapted for domesticuse, is especially'designed for public services in hotels, inns, clubs,

and other institutions and associations. When this type of public service is provided many care less and indifferent users by their actions create damaging and unsanitary conditions in the equipment; and to remedy these undesirable and objectionable conditions I.provide a self-conserving appliance that must receive. correct and.

proper attention on the part of the user to insure its operation. For instance, thewater controls are located and arranged in position to be inaccessible to the bather unless and until he has closed the appliance against splashing of water from the interior to the exteriorbf the cabinet, thus eliminating the undesirable wetting of walls and floors.

In the physical embodiment of my invention minimum number of parts are employed, which may with facility and low cost of production be manufactured, and the parts may be assembled and installed with convenience to afford an ap pliance that issimple in operation, durable, and iefiicient in the performance of its required funcions.

The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts involving a substantially cylindrical housing or cabinet enclosing a complemenpftary rotary closure or door each having an entrance opening, together with means for supporting and guiding the rotary closure as it is manipulated by hand, as will hereinafter be described in detail, and more particularly set forth in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated a complete example of a physical embodiment and installation of my invention wherein the :parts are combined and arranged in accord with one mode I have devised for the practical application of the principles of the invention. It will, however, be understood that changes and alterations are contemplated and may be made in these exemplifying drawings and mechanical structures, within the scope of my claims, without departing from the principles of the invention.

The enclosure or housing of the bathing appli-l ance forms a cabinet or shower bath having a bottom tubportion, and suitable materials are employedin the manufacture of the cabinet and: its rotary hand manipulated door or closure, suchas non-rusting metals, as well as molded plastic materials. In the principal views of the drawings, the cabinet I is of substantially cylindrical shape and provided with a pair of parallel rear-' wardly extending side walls 2, 2, which, together with a rear wall 3 form a recess 01' alcove 4 offset from the cabinet, and the base 5 provides an inclined or sloping floor for the structure, which preferably has an open top.

The cabinet is provided with a front door opening or entrance 6 that terminates at its lower end a substantial distance above the floor to provide a combin or upright flange 1 to form a front guard or shield to confine water within the cabinet.

The fittings or trim for the shower cabinet include a shower head 8, and control valves 9 and II! for hot and cold water respectively, and a conventional diverting valve l I, mounted in the back wall of the cabinet and located in the recess or alcove 4 for ready access of the bather when the cabinet is closed. The diverting valve ll tempers the water at the outlet, close to the floor or base of the cabinet, and the water is then diverted to the shower head, as usual. After the shower and after the control valves have been closed, the diverting valve automatically returns to its original safety position; and the water from the shower drains off from the inclined or sloping cabiof the door its entrance opening may register with the cabinet entrance and the recess alternately.

The rotary door or shell is supported: or suspended within the cabinet by means of an overhead annular or circular track 16 rigidly mounted, as by brackets H, on the upper end' or top'portion of the rotary door, and this track moving with the door is adapted to travel on a series of circumferentially spaced rollers l8 journaledin brackets 0r hangers I9 rigidly mounted on and near the top of. the wall. of the cabinet.-

For guiding and stabilizing the rotary movement of the suspended door, the door, on its outer side, is equipped with a horizontal seriesofcircumi'erentiall'y spaced rollersv 20 that travel in an" annular guide channel or track 2|; and it will-be apparent that the bather may step over the guard 1,. through the registering entrance openings 6 and M into therotary door. The door may then be rotated or rolled around to bring its opening M into register with the; front portion of the back recess or alcove, thus giving: the

bather'accessto thecontrol valves of theshowert.

After the shower, and: after the control valves have been closed thedooris'turnedon its rollers to bring its opening: into register with the front opening'of the cabinet, andthebather steps out ofv the. cabinet, leaving the cabinet open for the nextbath'er.

In Fig. 7 the cabinet 22 may be fashioned from molded plastic material, with a back recess, and two opposed curved interior faces 23, to accommodate the rotary cylindrical door or shell, and it will be understood that other changes and alterations may be made in the physical embodiment of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I-l claim. asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a shower-bath, the combination with a cylindrical cabinet having an out-set recess with water control devices and a front entrance opening, of a cylindrical rotary door having an entrance opening adapted to register with the cabinet' opening, an-over-head annular track mounted onthe door within the cabinet, a series of circumferentially spaced rollers journaled in the cabinetfor supporting the track, a lower annular channel-shaped track mounted within the cabinet-,and a series of? circumferentially' spaced rollersjournaled on the-exterior of the door for travelin.saidannu1antrack..

2. The apparatusasdescribedin claim 1, wherein' said door closes: said outset recess toprevent access to: said. water controldeviceswhen the entrance opening insaiddoor isinregistry' with the cabinet opening.
