Description

HOSE CABINET Filed March 7, 1945 INVENTOR BY I ' ATTORNEY Patented Aug. 1, 1950 HOSE CABIN ET Floyd J. Lee, Los Angeles, Calif., assignor to Fog Nozzle Company, Los Angeles, Calif., a copartnership Application March 7, 1945, Serial No. 581,457
2 Claims.
My invention relates to a hose cabinet.
One of the principal objects of this invention is to provide a hose cabinet in which a fire or other hose may be readily rolled, folded, or placed and stored, and also whereby the hose may be easily and quickly withdrawn ready for use.
Another important object of this invention is to provide simply constructed hose supporting arms or racks, and novel and simple means for securing one end thereof to the back wall of the enclosing cabinet.
With these and other objects in view, as will appear hereinafter, I have devised a hose cabinet having certain novel features of construction, as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawlugs, and to the characters of reference thereon, which form a part of this application, in which:
Fig. l is a front elevational view of my hose cabinet, with a portion of the enclosing door partly broken away;
Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation thereof taken through 22 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View thereof, taken through 3--3 of Fig. 1.
The enclosure for my hose cabinet consists of a vertically elongated enclosure I having an opening la at the front side thereof and a door 2 hinged at one edge to the enclosure at one side of the opening. A suitable staple 3 and hasp 4 may be provided for securing the free edge of the door over the opening.
Within the enclosure are provided two hose supporting arms or racks 5 and 6, one near but spaced from the upper end of the enclosure, and the other near but spaced from the lower end of the enclosure.
These arms or racks are formed of sheet metal of slightly more than semi-circular cross-section with the open sides directed toward each other. The inner ends of the arms or racks are provided with ears I for securing the inner ends thereof to the backside lb of the enclosure, by welding or other suitable means. These ears may be separate angular clips if desired, as shown. The racks are also braced with respect to the back wall lb by angular braces 8, one for each arm. The braces extend diagonally through the openings of the racks. Each brace is secured at one end to the back wall lb of the enclosure and at the other end to the portion of the arm intermediate the inner and outer ends thereof.
The hose 9 is wound around the arms or racks by folding the hose alternately around the racks in opposite directions. The inner end of the hose may extend through a hole la in the bottom of 2 the enclosure. The other end of the hose may be provided with a long nozzle l0 which extends from one rack to the other, the curved end llla of the nozzle extending partially around one of the racks, as shown.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination, and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be limited to the same, but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination, and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A hose cabinet comprising an enclosure having an opening at its front side and a door for the opening, horizontal hose racks positioned within said enclosure with their inner ends to the back wall of the enclosure and extending with their free ends towards the opening, said racks having sliding surfaces on which a hose is adapted to be folded and from which the hose is adapted to he slid out of the opening of the enclosure and releasing the hose from the racks, the racks being spaced from the upper and lower ends of the enclosure.
2. A hose cabinet comprising an enclosure having an opening at its front side and a door for the opening, a horizontal hose slide at the upper end and a horizontal hose slide at the lower end of said enclosure spaced from the ends thereof, said hose slides having free ends extending towards the opening, a hose folded around said slides in opposite directions and adapted to be slid from the slides out of the opening on opening of said door for releasing the hose from the slides.
