8 Claims.
. This invention relates to bathroom fixtures and refers particularly to a shower fixture mountable on a wall above a bathtub or the like.
The general object vide an attractive and inexpensive attachment which is extendable and foldable, so that it may be folded neatly out of the way, whennot in use, thereby to present an article of usefulness as well as of pleasing appearance,
More specifically, the object of the invention is to provide such shower fixture with a panel, on which a shower head is mounted, and this head is provided with an extension tube attachable to a bathroom faucet. A further object is to provide a bracket at each end of the panel, and to hold a cross rod suspended between the two brackets. Another object is to provide hinge rods fitted to swing in these brackets and to provide these hinge rods with extension rods for the purpose of ex= tending the position of the fixture, when in use. Another object is the provision of hooks by means by to complete a fixture for convenient use over a suitable receptacle and, when not in use, capable of being folded longitudinally parallel with said panel, in an out of the way position, against the bath room wall.
These and the further objects and advantages of my invention are herein fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, of which:
Fig. l is a perspective front elevation of the foldable shower fixture of my invention, as it would appear when attached to a bathroom wall,
Fig. 2 is a substantially corresponding top view of the shower fixture,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary plan view of one end of the device, with the extension rod shown in position, taken in the direction of the arrow 3, of Fig. 4,
Fig. 4 is an enlarged side elevation of the fixture, taken in the direction of the arrow 4, of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a modified form of the foldable shower fixture of my invention,
Fig. 6 is a plan View substantially in agreement with Fig. 5, showing the extension rods in folded position,
Fig. 7 shows the reversible extension rod connection of Figs. 5 and 6 slightly enlarged,
Fig. 8 is a corresponding plan View of the reversible extension rod connection,
Fig. 9 shows one end bracket, slightly enlarged, indicating the position of the cross rod and the 1934, Serial No. 707,676

Fig. 12 is a fragmentary perspective view ofa modified end bracket, in which the cross rodf an'd hinge rod are shown seated, and Fig. 13 is a cross sectional view, taken on line l3!3 of Fig. 12. 'ff The device of my invention comprises a shower fixture generally designated by the numeral 2,
with the. curtain hooks attached attached thereto in any positionmost convenlent in practice, as shown particularly in Figs. 1 and 5.

" preferred forms, I
tube 62 is slidably postioned on this tube to provide a light-weight, adjustable rod structure.
In Fig. 5, I have shown the fixture 2 in modified form, the outer end of one hinge rod 66 being seated to turn in a block member 68. A rod 10 is pivotally joined to the block member, substantially as indicated at 12, to provide a very inexpensive and efiicient hinged structure which, when it is desired to fold the rod extensions of the fixture up against the wall, may be positioned parallel to the panel 4, as shown in Fig. 6. It is to be noted that the tube also is mountable on the rod 10.
As the fixture is arranged in Fig. 1, it is most conveniently mounted at the end of a bathtub, and the tubes 50 should be extended far enough along the sides of the tub to catch the spray. Ihe arrangement of Fig. 5, on the other hand, is most conveniently placed above the inner side of the tub, and it is readily seen that, in this arrangement, the extension rods and tubes completely enclose the center portion of the tub when the curtain. is hung.
In Figs. 10 and ll, a cross rod and a hinge and 16 respectively, are shown held in position on the bracket extension 30 by means of a bolt 42. The hinge rod 16 is shown slidably fitted with an extension tube 86, and it is shown o ffset'relative to the cross rod 14 in order that, when not in use, it may be folded into a position unobstructively parallel with the rod 14.
In Figs. 12 and 13, the cross rod 32 is shown positioned within sockets 82, of a modified bracket 86, andhinge rods 84 are pivotally seated in the brackets and held in position by means of cotter pins 88, to provide a very effective and inexpensive extension rod structure for the shower fixture.
While I have described my invention in its do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction herein shown and described, but reserve the right to make such modifications as may come within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. A shower bath apparatus comprising, a panel mountable on a bath room wall, a shower head positioned on said panel, a pair of brackets on the panel, a cross rod having its ends secured to said brackets, and a pair of extension rods mounted to swing on said brackets for horizontal extension andcapable of being folded parallel with said cross rod when not in use.
2. A shower bath apparatus comprising, a panel, a shower head positioned on the panel, a bracket at each end of the panel, a cross rod suspended between said brackets in parallel relation to the panel, a pair of extension rods hinged on said brackets, and a shower curtain detachably hung on said cross rod and the said extension rods.
