The outsidesur-face portion of the spaced top member 33 is attached to the inside surface portion of the spaced top member I! of the sash frame II by the later described end members 25 and 26 or otherwise and in such a manner, that the plane of the screen frame I2 is at an angle to the plane of the sash frame II. Since the illustrated sash and screen is hung so that the screen frame I2 swings inwardly and upwardly, it becomes necessary to bevel the top surface portion of the spaced top member 33 downwardly in order that the sash frame II may be. swung inwardly to close the window frame In and which is best seen in Figures 2 and 3. Over the openi g formed by the screen frame I2, a screen member 31 is disposed which may have a second screen frame 38 integrally formed to. which'the screen member 31 is attached in any known manner and then removably held over the opening of the screen frame I2 by the upright members 39 and 40, the latter being removably attached to the screen frame I2 by the screws 4| or the like.
Thus formed, the sash frame I I and the screen frame I2 when viewed from the side (Fig. 3) are substantially in the form of a triangle, the open ends of the triangle being closed by the previously mentioned end members 25 and 26 which are made from reasonably rigid material having an arcuate bottom edge and which are removably attached to the ends of the sash and screen frames Ill and II by the screws 42 or the like.
As thus far constituted; the sash frame It and screen frame II leave an opening at the bottom formed by the spaced bottom member I8 of the sash frame II, the spaced bottom member 34 of the screen frame I2 and the arcuate bottom edges of the end members 25 and 26. When using the sash and screen in the fully closed position, no covering is necessary for this opening. However, since other than the fully opened position of either member has been found to be desirable under certain. conditions, a second screen 43 is secured over the opening in any base to permit rotating the unit over the top surface portion of the stop 24, the bottom edges of the end members 25 and 26 being designed to rotate between the inside surface portions of the opposed side members I and IE of the window frame It} and the corresponding ends of the stop 24. The second screen 43 may be of fine mesh in the manner of the screen 31 as a protection against insects or of larger mesh as a protection against rodents and the like.
To maintain the combined sash frame II and screen frame i2 in locked open or closed positions and to maintain said members in partially 'open and closed positions, a support 44 is mounted on the inside of one of the spaced parallel side members I5 or I6 of the'window frame III to coact with a curved member 45 the base of which is attached to the outside'surface portion of a corresponding spaced side member of the screen frame I2 by any suitable means 46 and in which a slot 46a is provided. A screw 4! is adjustably inserted through the support 44 and the aligned slot 46 and held in place by the Wing nut 48 releasably securing the members together in any desired position of the combined sash and screen.
The operation of the combined sash and screen is as follows:

By tightening the thumb nut '48, the combined unit may be held in any desired position within the limits of design and with the window opening protected against intrusion by the second screen 43.
It is apparent that the specific illustration shown above has been given by way of illustration and not by way of limitation and that the structures above described are subject to wide variation and modification without departing from the scope or intent of the invention, all of which variations and modifications are to be included within the scope of the present invention.
What is claimed is:
l. A'window sash and screen in combination with a window frame adapted to be opened and closed by the sash and screen, means swingably mounting the top of the sash at the top of the frame and adapted to swing the same in and out thereof, and means securing the top of the screen to the top of the sash and adapted to swing the screen out of the frame when the sash is swung therein and into the frame when the sash is swung out therefrom.
2. A window sash in combination with a window screen adapted to close the opening in a window frame when inserted therein, the sash comprising spaced parallel top and bottom members and side members, means securing said members along corresponding ends, at least one light transmitting member for the spaced parallel members, means hingedly mounting the spaced top member of the sash to the top of the frame; the screen comprising spaced parallel top and bottom members and side members, means securing said members along corresponding ends, a screen member disposed over said spaced mem bers, and means securing the spaced top member of the screen to the spaced top member of the sash so constructed and arranged as to swing the screen out of the frame when the sash is swung therein and into the frame when the sash is swung out therefrom.
3. A window comprising a window frame/a sash for the Window frame, and a screen for the window frame; the window frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to provide an opening for the transmission of air and light, the sash comprising a sash frame and adapted to be removably inserted in the opening formed by the window frame, the sash frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom members and side members, means securing said members along corresponding ends, at least one light transmitting member disposed in the sash frame, means hingedly mounting the upper edge of the spaced top member of the sash frame to the lower edge of the spaced top member of the window frame and adapted to rotate the sash frame in and out of the window frame, the screen comprising a screen frame, the screen frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom members and side members, a screen member disposed over the spaced members, means securing the spaced top member of the screen frame to the spaced top member of the sash frame and adapted to swing the screen out of the frame when the sash is swung therein and into the frame when the sash is swung out therefrom.
4. A window comprising a window frame, a sash for the window frame, and a screen for the window frame; the window frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and means securing said members along corresponding ends, a stop transversely disposed on the top surface portion of the spaced bottom member; the sash comprising a sash frame, the sash frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to be inserted within the periphery of the outer edge of the window frame with the outside surface portions of the spaced parallel members flush with corresponding surface portions of the window frame when the bottom member of the sash frame is against the stop on the spaced bottom member of the window frame, means securing said spaced members along corresponding ends, means hingedly securing the outside surface portion of the spaced top member of the sash frame to the corresponding surface portion of the window frame; the screen comprising a screen frame, the screen frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to be inserted within the periphery of the inner edge of the window frame, means securing said spaced members along corresponding ends, a screen member disposed over the spaced members, means securing the spaced top member of the screen frame to the spaced top member of the sash frame and adapted to swing the screen out of the window frame when the sash is swung therein and into the frame when the sash is swung out therefrom.
5. A window comprising a window frame, a sash for the window frame, and a screen for the window frame; the window frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and means securing said members along corresponding ends, a stop transversely disposed on the top surface portion of the spaced bottom member and adapted to leave a space between the spaced side members at either end; the sash comprising a sash frame, the sash frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to be inserted within the periphery of the outer edge of the window frame with the outside surface portions of the spaced parallel members flush with corresponding surface portions of the window frame when the spaced bottom member of the sash frame is against the stop on the spaced bottom member of the window frame, means securing said spaced members along corresponding ends, at least one light transmitting member for the sash frame, means on the sash frame overlapping corresponding surface portions of the window frame when the sash frame is against the stop, means hingedly securing the upper edge of the spaced top member of the sash frame to the lower edge of the spaced top member of the window frame; the screen comprising a screen frame, the screen frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to be inserted within the periphery of the inner edges of the window frame, means securing said spaced members along corresponding ends, a screen member disposed over the spaced members, means securing the spaced top member of the screen frame to the spaced top member of the sash frame at the back and adapted to rotate the screen in and out of the window frame and to close the same when against the stop, a reinforcing side member disposed on either side of the sash and screen frames, the bottom surface portion of the reinforcing members being arcuate and adapted to rotate with the sash and screen adjacent the inside surface portions of the spaced parallel side members of the window frame and the ends of the stop, and means releasably securing the window sash and window screen in position.

A window sash in combination with a window screen and adapted to open and close a window frame; the window sash comprising spaced parallel top and bottom members and adapted to be removably inserted within the outer periphery of the window frame means securing said members along corresponding ends, at least one light transmitting unit for the spaced members, a stop longitudinally disposed on the bottom of the window frame with a space between the sides of the frame and adapted to maintain the outside surface portions of the sash and window frame hush when the spaced bottom member of the sash frame is against the stop, means securing the upper edge of the spaced top member of the sash frame to the lower edge of the top of the window frame, a second frame disposed over the outside surface portions of the sash frame and adapted to cover the openings between corresponding members of the window frame when the sash frame is against the stop; the window screen comprising a screen frame, the screen frame comprising spaced parallel top and bottom and side members and adapted to be inserted within the periphery of the inner edges of the window frame, means securing said spaced members along corresponding ends, a screen member disposed over the spaced members, means securing the spaced top member of the screen frame to the spaced top member of the sash frame at the back and adapted to rotate the screen in and out of the window frame and to close the same when against the stop, a reinforcing side member disposed on either side of the sash and screen frames, the bottom edges of the reinforcing members being arcuate and adapted to rotate with the sash and screen adjacent the inside surface portions of the sides of the window frame and the ends of the stop, a second screen member disposed in the base of the space formed by the sash and screen and reinforcing members and adapted to be rotated with said members adjacent the upper edge of the stop, and means releasably maintaining the window sash and window screen in position.
