16 Claims. (Cl. 119-45) This invention has relation to a nest construction.
An object of the invention is to provide a nest construction which will be of simple and inexpensive structure and an improvement generally over nest constructions heretofore known.
A further object is to provide a nest construction wherein will be incorporated various improved features and characteristics of construction novel both as individual entities of the nest construction and in combination with each other.
A further object is to provide a nest construction of unique and improved character which will consist of elements adapted to be assembled in new and simple manner to produce the nest construction.
And a further object is to provide an improved nest construction as herein disclosed.
With the above objects in view, as well as others which will appear as the specification proceeds, the invention comprises the construction, arrangement and combination of parts as now to be fully described and as hereinafter to be specifically claimed, it being understood that the disclosure herein is merely illustrative and intended in no way in a limiting sense, changes in details of construction and arrangement of parts being permissible so long as within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the claims which follows.

Speaking generally, the nest construction of the invention consists of a front [5, channel ele-.
ments It, a roof or cover l1, spaced apart, parallel duplicate partitions l8, l8, [8a, 181) end members or pieces [9 in spaced, parallel relation to the outermost of the partitions, and upper and lower, spaced apart, parallel bases or bottoms, denoted 20 and 2 I, respectively, between and supported by partitions which are adjacent each other, as well as between and supported by the end members or pieces [9 and the partitions which are adjacent said end members or pieces.
Desirably, all of the elements of the nest construction can be of sheet metal.
The front [5 is constituted as a flat slab or sheet which is of rectilinear configuration as disclosed. The upperand lower margins of said front [5 are bent to provide elongated strips,
designated 22 and 23, respectively, which extend toward each other at locations adjacent the rearward surface of the front and are parallel with said front to define, together with the front,
rectilinear channels, denoted 24 and 25, respectively, of the front which open toward each other. 11. In a nest construction, a front member consisting of a sheet of material having an opening, spaced apart end members each consisting of a sheet of material extending rearwardly from opposite side margins of said front member at angular relation to the front member, a forward margin of each of said spaced apart end members including an inwardly extending flange portion, a pair of channel elements for connecting opposite side margins of said front member and the inwardly extending flange portions of said endmembers, respectively, to each other, each of said channel elements being constituted as a strip of material providing an intermediate portion and outermost portions of each channel element substantially parallel with and spaced from said intermediate portion defining inwardly and outwardly opening channels of each of said channel elements, each of the opposite side margins of said front member being fitted to one of the channels of the channel element at the corresponding side of the front member and the inwardly extending flange portion of each of said end members being fitted to the other of the channels of the channel element at the corresponding side of said front member, and means for securing said spaced apart end members to each other.
12. The combination as specified in claim 11, and a partition consisting of a sheet of material between and in spaced relation to said spaced apart end members and extending rearwardly from said front member at angular relation thereto.
13. In a nest combination, a front member consisting of a sheet of material, spaced apart end members each consisting of a sheet of material extending rearwardly from opposite side margins of said front member at angular relation to the front member, means connecting opposite side margins of said front member and said end members, respectively, to each other, upper and lower margins of said front member providing upper and lower strips of the front member extending toward each other at location adjacent a rearward surface of said front member, said upper and lower strips defining, together with the body of the front member, upper and lower channels of said front member which open toward each other, said upper and lower strips including vertically alined transverse slots, and a partition consisting of a sheet of material between and in spaced relation to said spaced apart end members extending rearwardly from said front member at angular relation thereto, the forward margin of said partition including a flange portion substantially at right angular relation to the partition, upper and lower ends of the forward flange portion of said partition being adapted to be situated in the vertically alined, transverse slots in the upper and lower strips, respectively, of said .front member and moved sidewise to lie inthe upper and lower channels of the front member thus tobe secured to said front member.

The combination as specified in claim 13, ,a cover fitted over the upper edges of said front membensaid partition andsaid end members, a rearward flange integral with saidcover extending downwardly in overlying relation to upper parts of rearward margins of said partition and end members and providing a strip upon said rear flange extending upwardly at the interior side of the rear flange to "define, together with said rear flange, a channel of said cover which opens upwardly, there being spaced apart, transverse slots in said strip upon said rear flange in transversely .alined relation with the transverse slots in the strip of said front member, the rearward flange portions upon said partition and said :end members being adapted to be'situated in said channel of said cover.
15. In a nestconstr-uction,afront member consisting of a sheet :of material having an opening for passage of fowl, spaced apart end members ach consisting of a sheet of material socured-to and extending rearwardly from opposite side margins of said front member at angular relation to the front member, a cover fitted over upper portions of said front and end members, a. front flange integral with said cover extending downwardly in, overlying relation to a forward surface of said front member, and a tab on said front flange ,fitted into said opening and around defining surfaces thereof.
16. The combination as specified in claim 15, said cover including a rear flange overlying upper portions of rearward edges of said spaced apart end'walls, and means securing rearward parts of the. spaced apart end walls to said rear flange.
