- 1 This invention has to do with the field of building and construction and more specifically to formation of cementitious walls or the like and has for its primary aim the provision of a form or mold adapted to receive material from which said wall is made and hold the same in place.
The most important object of this invention is the provision of a building form having a pair of spaced apart opposed frame members, each madefrom a plurality of sections and having a number of spacers interconnecting the frame members through the medium of a releasable pin, the latter of which also serves in holding together the said sections.
Another important object of this invention is to provide a form having a number of panels lining the proximal innermost faces of the aforesaidframe members and temporarily secured to the latter through the use of tie members which may be readily severed when the form is to be removed.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a building form for cementitious walls or the like wherein the above mentioned lining panels may be used if desired as a finishing surface when the wall is completed and after the frame portion of the form is removed.
- Other objects of this invention relate to the manner in which a thimble-like plug is utilized to hold the panels upon the frame members to the end that a smooth surface is made possible after removal of the form by simply filling in the opening left by the removed plug; the way in which the tie members for the panels extend into the cementitious Wall and serve to support the filling for the removed plug; and the particular way in which the frame sections of the form are made to the end that same may be re-used from time to time.
Many minor objects will be made clear during the course of the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective View of building structure in the form of a mold made in accordance with our present invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross sectional view through the building structure and wall shown in Fig. l; and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary cross sectional view showing the manner in which the lining panels are mounted upon the frame sections.
In the drawing, the numeral l designates broadly a wall made from cementitious material 3 Claims. (Cl. 25-131) 2 z building form about to be described. This building form includes a pair of spaced apart frame members l2 and I4, each of which includes a plurality of sections l6. These sections I6 are disposed in side-by-side upright relationship and each comprise a'pair of spaced apart vertical bars l8 and a plurality of interconnecting cross members 20. These cross members 20 are spaced apart and secured to the vertical bars l8 by fusing or other similar means of attachment.
The frame members l2 and I4 each formed by their respective: sections I 5, are held in spaced apart opposed relationship by a number of spacers 22. These spacers 22 span the distance between the opposedsections l6 of frames 12 and I4 re spectively'and are held in place through the medium of pins 24. These pins 24 also serve to releasably hold the sections [6 of-each of the frame members [2 and I4 together in side-byside relationship. In other words, the spacers '22 each have an opening at each end thereof and the pins 24 pass through such openings and through aligned openings in the vertical mem'- bers. I8 of the sections "5, all as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawing.
A number of panels 26 and 28 line the normally innermost faces of sections I2 and M respectively; A number of tie'members 25 formed in the-manner illustrated in Fig. 3 serve to hold thesepanels 26 and 28 'on their respective sections [2 and 14. These tie members 25 are preferably formed from wire or other easily cut material and have one end thereof looped over the cross members 20 of the sections I6 as at 21. s Tie members 25 extend through openings 29 formed in the panels 26 and 28 and projectinwardly to a laterally turned end 30. Each-of the tie members .25 has a thimble-like plug 32' threaded thereon between the end 30 thereof and the proximal innermost face of the respective panels '26 and 28.; 3 Y It is readily seen that when the form is made as above described, the panels 26 and 28 thereof are held in spaced apart relationship to receive the material which forms the wall [0. When this material has dried and set, removal of the form is accomplished through the following steps: The pins 24 holding the sections l6 upon the spacers 22 are all removed and the tie members 25 are either clipped adjacent the outermost face of the panel 26 or 28 or the looped portion 21 thereof bent outwardly to permit removal of the sections l6 of frames [2 and I4.
