Description

BUILDING STRUCTURE Filed May 23, 1930 rrs,
Patented Sept. 27, 1932 RENE EUGENE MARIE EI REES, E PARIS, FRANCE BUILDING STRUCTURE Application filed May 23, 1930, Serial No. 454,981, and in Iiuxemburg June 24, 1929.
The present invention relates to building structures and, more particularly, to bricks or blocks for forming the latter.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a form of building block permitting the construction of a wall having air spaces therein between the blocks. 7
Other objects will appear in the course of the detailed description now to be given it? with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective of a block constructed in accordance with the invention;
Figs. 2 and 3 represent the same block in plan and in elevation, respectively;
Fig. 4 is a plan of a plurality of blocks in assembled relation.
Referring to the various figures of the drawing, there is shown a block a of trapezoidal form having a short rear surface 6, a similar long, front surface c,and lateral surfaces (Z and 7 formed so that when a plurality of blocks are in assembled relation (Fig. 4), any three adjacent blocks will limit a space 9 adapted to receive a cementing material (cement, mortar, or the like) andany two adjacent blocks will be separated by an air space 6 adapted to assure thorough drying of the assembled wall or to act as a heat insulator or both. To obtain this result the lateral walls should form a flattened S or Z in section or, at least, wall 03 should lie below the level of line extending from one end of surface I) to the distal portion of wall (1.
Obviously, the form of surfaces 03 and f may be varied at will so long as spaces 9' and e are delimited thereby as hereinabove specified. Each block may be provided with a longitudinal orifice 9 adapted to receive iron rods or the like passing through superposed tiers of blocks forming the wall.
In the claims, the trianguloid is intended to cover generically true triangles or irregular three sided spaces such as 9.
What I claim is 1. A wall comprised of a series of blocks each having a relatively long face, a second relatively short face parallel to said long face and generally inclined lateral faces, said blocks being laid with the short and long faces alternately in opposite directions, said lateral portions including intermediate portions inclined to the long and short faces and end portions joining said intermediate portions and said short face, said end portions being inclined at greater angles to said long and short portions than said intermediate portions, whereby said blocks contact along lines to form trianguloid spaces and quadrilateral air spaces, said trianguloid spaces RENE EUGENE MARIE PIERRES.
